5.0 de 5 estrellas Safe and beautiful way to protect wood.
Need to find a way to seal and protect a elevated planter bed that I made from scratch. My problem was that since I planned on growing food crops in the bed, I did not want to use chemical sealants such as Thompson’s. After about a month of research, I settled on using this Tung oil.The oil itself is very easy to apply and has a pleasant smell to it. The untreated cedar that I used looked amazing after I put the tung oil on. You will have to put on multiple coats to get a good seal as per instructed on the bottle. But the extra time, is well worth it when you’ve spend so much time and energy creating a great wood piece. After using the bed for about 6 months filled with dirt and getting watered daily, I decided to swap out all my dirt and clean out the box. I was very pleased that there was ZERO rot and the wood still had a look of being treated with the oil.I would highly recommend this product to anyone that needs to protect their wood creations and wants an all natural means of doing so.

4.0 de 5 estrellas Easy to Use but Takes Time
Milk Paint half & half is easy to use and smells way better than I thought it would. I finished a a teak stool seat and a hickory work bench top with this product. It really brought out the beauty of the teak and added a lot of depth to the hickory. I’m still in the curing phase so I can’t speak of its durability but time will tell. I did add a couple of extra coats and really liked the old school look. It was just perfect for the teak stool seat I’m putting on an antique restoration.

4.0 de 5 estrellas A handy product, easy to use to good effect for a causual wood restorer.
Generally happy with the results although the final color to the wood bookcase was darker than I expected. The application was easy and 2 coats were sufficient for resurrecting a beautiful, very old mahogany bookcase which was revealed after multiple layers of paint had been removed. Even in a space that was not ideally ventilated, there was no problem using this product. Since the wood was very porous after stripping the paint off, I used the tung oil full strength rather than diluted. That worked well. I applied only a light second coat, also full strength but with a very soft wide brush so as not to leave brush marks. Again, this seemed to work very well on this piece. I would have given the tung oil 5 stars if it were not for the darkening of the wood and the fact that it did not go as far as I anticipated. I had to use twice as much as I would have expected for this smallish bookcase.

5.0 de 5 estrellas Really fantastic finish on my walnut table
Really fantastic finish on my walnut table. Cut 1 to 1 with Real Milk Paint Citrus Solvent (this was key). Did 10 coats applying every 24 hours with a lint free cloth. Wipe excess off an hour or two after being applied. After the 10 coats I went over with super fine steel wool then added two more coats. Used about 10 ounces for a 30×60″ table with two coats on the bottom. Fantastic finish and will be easily fixed if a scratch occurs. Also water will not soak in, just sits on top like poly finishes, love it. The finish seems to need a few weeks to dry fully after you finish the last coat as the feel of the surface seems to change after a week or so. The smell of the tung oil will go away after a month or two, not offensive at all just a faint smell to it. Also speaking of smell when applying this I did it in my Chicago apt and had no adverse affects physically from breathing in the citrus solvent and tung oil smell with a window open. Very natural stuff will definitely be using again for any thing I can.

5.0 de 5 estrellas Real Milk Pure Tong Oil
This stuff worked great! Put it on our island butcher-block top. Love that it is food grade and if we get water rings, all we have to do is put another coat or two on and it’s good to go again. You do have to recoat this every so often depending on how often you use and climate. But, i think it is totally worth it. Plus it isn’t a big deal to do. You mix 1/2 and 1/2 tung oil and citrus solvent and paint it on. I do this before bed and it is all soaked in by morning. If you need, you can do a few coats. I put at least 6 on it to season it the first time. Have put another coat on since. IT’s only been a couple of weeks. But, i don’t mind and we love the results.

5.0 de 5 estrellas Good price on pure, unadulterated tung oil.
I was really happy to find this brand of pure tung oil at a decent price. Be warned that the industry is very casual about marketing “tung oil” for what are actually oil finishes that may have all manner of additional ingredients, likely artificial, and may not even include any actual tung oil. Stick to the original, all-natural product! For the average home hobbyist, this one bottle is probably a lifetime supply. Lends a wonderfully luxurious deep satin finish to wood, and demonstrable water-proofing qualities once you’ve gotten a good number of coats on. So far I’ve been using on gun stocks with wonderful effect, but great for any home furniture as well. Rub on by hand, trying to use as little oil as possible. Many thin coats is apparently the recommended method.

5.0 de 5 estrellas Best tung oil I’ve used
I’ve been using tung oil on and off for over thirty years. Mostly I’d used pre-mixed from Minwax and had good luck with it. When we decided to do some very large pieces (hundreds of square feet) in tung oil instead of linseed oil, I tried out a couple of brands and my favorite by far is Real Milk Paint. It’s very thick and can be thinned down to 2 to 1 for the first coat (they recommend 1 to 1, but it depends on the wood). Their citrus oil is amazing, but too expensive for me unless I’m going to do a food surface.I’m trying out their “Outdoor defense oil” (tung oil thinned and with zinc added) but don’t have enough history with it to know if it actually is better than straight tung oil for surviving UV.

5.0 de 5 estrellas Only those who know, know.
If you’re paying a hundred bucks for a gallon of anything to put on your wood it better be a tung you like. My 1st round is curing now but all looks/seems to be premium. I like how Real Milk Paint educates if needed and seems to hold “the elixer of the gods” in high regard as they should. If you use it right, have any personal style yourself and enjoy the finner things in life….well then…..welcome the the club. The old timers were right. From a New Skool chainsaw surfer.

4.0 de 5 estrellas Easy to apply; Dries slowly
I applied right out of the bottle to a Douglas fir workbench using a rag. I did not want to cut with a solvent as I have poor ventilation, and wanted a 100% natural product. It has a bit of a strong odor that lingers, but is not chemically (like old cooking oil). Only darkens the wood slightly. After 3 days I applied a second coat. It took about a month in my 70 degree (Fahrenheit) shop for it to dry fully. Until then, I could run my fingers and get oil on them. Now it seems to have dried and the smell is slowly fading. The compromises were a bit more than I expected, and if I had it to do over I’d probably use a different product.

5.0 de 5 estrellas Applies easy (you have to cut it with a solvent
Makes unfinished hardwood floors look fabulous. Applies easy (you have to cut it with a solvent, go with a citrus one). I cut 50/50 and dries in no time flat. After second coat, will start to see the grain pop on unfinished hardwoods (mine are hickory). Be sure to wipe floors with damp rag before applying, get all and any dirt/dust gone first or you will ‘dirty’ your oil. I use a china brush, and apply new coats to floors on a regular basis. Up to about 6 coats now, and floors look amazing. With NO polyurethane!!!!! and no streak marks, will never have to sand off anything…. this is absolutely the way to go if you’re installing unfinished hardwood floors and want environmentally good for you, and never have to sand in the future. Just apply as needed to freshen up the look, or when it’s just time for another coat. Buy the gallon if applying to a whole house. Keep the cap on very tight!!!!

5.0 de 5 estrellas Works great for decorative concrete.
Coated my concrete fireplace with it. I was trying to darken it up a little and age it some. I had put a lithium densifier on it when I originally built it, and I think that kept the oil from penetrating too much. One 32oz bottle was barely enough for one coat. The fireplace is 12’h X 7.5’w X 2.5’d. I brushed it on full strength, let it sit for 30 mins, then wiped it down. It did exactly what I wanted it to do. I may wax it and buff it after it cures…

5.0 de 5 estrellas Milk tung oil used on oak floor
This product met my expectations . I used it on children’s bedroom floor . the floor looks fantastic , however I cannot tell how it will hold up . I do not think I will be using this for floors again . It took a week to to apply the multiple coats recommended . Also lots of work removing excess oil after each application . On each coat I had to apply oil , let sit for 40 minutes , wipe down after 40 minutes , and then come back 3 or 4 times after first wipe down and redo because the oil keeps bleeding back out of the floor and if left on will form little spots that harden , and will not blend in with the floor . I used Japan drier to speed up drying so perhaps this made working with the oil more difficult . The finished product looks great though .

5.0 de 5 estrellas Not your home improvement store tung oil, this is the real deal and worked great!
This stuff is legit pure chinese tung oil, the greasy kind that takes a couple of days in the sun to fully cure. I used this as a top coat on a 90s Pearl Export drum set that i refinished and did a very light initial coat (medium pressure applied with bleached lint free cloth) and four more medium (almost to the saturation point) coats and knocked down the sheen/glossy spots with #0000 steel wool to even it out. I have gotten nothing but positive feedback on the finish, and smell for that matter. This isn’t like your “other brand”‘s so-called Tung oil that is just a mixture, this is 100% thick gooey oil. It has a nice amber hue to it as well to bring out any figuring in the grain

5.0 de 5 estrellas Well worth the cost – great product!
Excellent product for sealing sanded wood. I’ve used this for the hardwood floors in my house as a natural sealer before applying a water-based topcoat. I also use this as a finish layer for dressers, coffee tables, night stands, and rocking chairs. It has a bit of a strong odor, but it’s more like a sesame oil smell than a stinky urethane smell. Use multiple thin layers rather than trying to lay it on thick – you will end up with a much smoother / even finish. Some people cut it with a citrus-based thinner – I use it pure.

5.0 de 5 estrellas The real deal, thick, usefull for cedar planters, etc
I used this product for outdoor elevated raised bed cedar planters and potting benches. You might consider adding a judicious amount of citrus thinner or other spirits to help you work with it. It dries quickly with minimal color change-actually an enhancement occurs. Cleanup requires spirits. I preferred this brand to the more famous nationally known brand, but would accept that one in a pinch. This is my second order. I will reapply a coat next growing season.

5.0 de 5 estrellas Cedar Finisher
This is a fantastic product. I’ve used it indoors and out, and mostly on outdoor cedar railings. Works well on cutting boards also. This was recommended to me by a local carpenter who crafts a lot of cedar. It was easy to apply, left for half an hour, then wiped off. Cut it 50/50 before use, and it was absorbed by the boards really well. Most boards took 3-5 coats, and I’ll probably lightly sand and reapply later this summer to keep the look. Two months in, and the rails are still looking great. When you are working with this, you can tell how much your boards need because you’ll see dry spots right after you apply. Keep working it in, let it dry for a day, then put on another coat. The wood will tell you when it has had enough. I’ve attached before and after photos of my bacon board. The difference is night and day.

4.0 de 5 estrellas Seems like a good oil
I gave this a 4 star only because I haven’t used it much yet. I opened it and poured a little out to see how it looked on a few types of woods. I bought this because it got good reviews and even more importantly, the container was made of plastic, which allowed me to squeeze the material all the way up to the top so I could close it with as little air in it as possible.

5.0 de 5 estrellas High Quality Tung Oil
I highly recommend this Tung oil – if you need as much as a gallon, this is a good price. I paid for this product and have used multiple other Tung oils before and this one is just as good as the others at a better price. I usually use it as a wood finish to highlight the grain, but recently coated an aluminum sailboat mast to bring back its luster. However you use it, just be sure not to apply it too thick. Wipe off any excess with a dry rag and do multiple coats as needed. The brand offers a citrus solvent if you need to thin it for better penetration into the grain.

5.0 de 5 estrellas used on unfinished kids table. DO NOT mix with anything for food-safe purposes!
I wanted my son’s table to be food-safe for when he uses playdough or if he eats on the table down the road so if you’re looking to do the same, do NOT thin or mix this. I had no problem using a lint-free cloth from the hardware store and applying this. one coat per day or two, 3x. i didn’t feel the need to go crazy with more coats. NO FUMES so was totally safe to do around my animals and right in my kitchen! Just had to keep the cats away because it’s sticky at first obviously and I didn’t want hair on the table. has a slight nutty smell but again, no fumes and totally non-toxic & SAFE!! also not a hazard for the environment to dispose of either!

5.0 de 5 estrellas Works great on concrete countertops!!
After pouring DIY countertops, I spent hours and hours researching the best finishes, but it seemed every option had an online naysayer. I ultimately decided on this product because it has no nasty fumes, and I couldn’t be more satisfied. I applied around 10 coats over the course of a few days, and then protected the countertops from food/spills for two weeks to make sure it had time to cure. Since then, it seems that nothing will stain the counters. I even spilled red wine on them, and it wiped right off without leaving any discoloration. After 3 months of putting our counters through the wringer, this stuff has held up great and we don’t have a single stain. Can’t recommend enough!!

5.0 de 5 estrellas Simply the best
I purchased a quart of pure tung oil at a local high end store and it was horrible. Some of it had solidified and it was hard to work with. I also used the typical mineral spirit and the smell was overwhelming and I can still smell It a month laterThis tung oil is another story. Smooth and pure.I initially mixed it 50% with the Citrus solvent from the same brand and wow what a difference! My last coat was 100% tung oil and the piece is amazing and beautifully sealed. You can’t go wrong with this line and the smell is far superior with the Citrus solvent. It’s almost pleasant. One warning and it’s only because I didn’t understand the reaction that would occur… I used a styrofoam cup to measure with and it completely melted. Gone! Pretty funny and I won’t do that again!

So easy to use, I applied with my hands, dripped on and rubbed in with bare hands. Put on a thick coat, let sit for a day or so and reapplied where needed. What didn’t absorb I just wiped off. Worked out great!!! I wanted to use a natural product because these are going to be shelves in my kitchen. Brings out the natural grain in the wood which is gorgeous! I debated on the dark tung oil but the natural is plenty dark for what I wanted. No bad smell. Did not use citrus solvent, did not dilute.

5.0 de 5 estrellas Good quality and creates a beautiful rich depth on wood
I used this Tung oil on a bench that I had refinished. It was a weathered, beat up bench but after sanding and applying 3 coats of this oil, it looks beautiful. It went from being something that you might see abandoned out in yard to an art piece. Key Point: Make sure you rub the oil off after 45 minutes, then use a clean, lint clean cloth to rub it again in 30 minutes, then after about an hour, do a good polishing with a clean rag. It continues to improve with each rubbing.

4.0 de 5 estrellas Really good stuff. Smells great
Really good stuff. Smells great. A nutty-woody pleasant aroma. Drys slow, but well worth the effort. Refurbishing one old end grain butcher block and a fairly new edge grain carving board. Had to sand down the butcher block, It was really thirsty. Just take your time between applications and wipe off the excess after it has plenty of time to absorb. The first few applications did not require this. It all soaked in. Finished off with a home made concoction of coconut oil and beeswax. Both came out great. It was difficult to control dispensing the oil from the gallon size. So, I poured a small amount into a small jar with a lid. Then I could apply it to the cloth and board much easier. Labeled everything so I would not mix it with my other oils. The butcher block is round. So I put it on a lazy-susan for both sanding and oiling. It gave it 4 stars, partly because I rarely do 5. and the real test is now. How well it will last and protect the wood.

5.0 de 5 estrellas Just what I hoped for
This is rather thick stuff, and I found it was best diluted 50% with mineral spirits for the first coat on raw, dry wood (I’m restoring an old sailboat with some wooden pieces). The diluted formula wicks deeper into the wood than the full-strength oil, but this approach should not be used for anything that will be used for food preparation (wood bowls, rolling pins, etc.)! I worked my way up to full strength oil for the final coat and the things I’ve oiled now look quite nice, bringing out deep red tones in the teak and giving it a satin sheen. I did not find it gummy or full of residue, but I expect the shelf life of the bottle will be limited as compared to other wood finishes, since it has no additives to preserve it. I’m not an expert woodworker, but I suspect certain types of wood might “bleed” into the oil if the wood is of the “green” or “pitchy” sort…which might explain why some people have had some issues with it. For my purposes, it’s just what I hoped for.

5.0 de 5 estrellas Fantastic product, great company, great service
After having just started doing woodworking a couple of years back, and having to learn along the way, I am very glad to have discovered Tung Oil, by suggestion. What an awesome product that is safe to use, safe to be around, and absolutely pet and child safe when used properly. Glad to hear that more and more woodworkers, and commercial builders are starting to use Tung Oil as standard practice, due to no VOC’s, and no toxic chemicals.Oddly, every part of the Tung Tree is fatally toxic to humans and animals… except the oil, which is completely food-surface safe. I have made bird stands using Tung oil, and it has proven to be absolutely safe, even with chewing. It is recommended for use on wooden cutting boards as well. How it works is by essentially bonding with the wood to “plasticize” it in a way. It makes the wood almost completely water and alcohol proof. Very easy to clean the project after finishing with it.

5.0 de 5 estrellas Good Stuff
Used on something outdoor and it’s been through some rain weather cycles with durable performance results. There was a specific scent that is a bit ‘nutty’ in general, but the scent faded over a few weeks. The real test is yet to come this winter when it will be exposed to the elements of freeze thaw. I will be interested to see if the wood cracks, or if the oil will provide the barrier needed to keep the ice from doing its damage.

5.0 de 5 estrellas Beautiful on old redwood decking
My deck was old and gray and ugly. I didn’t want to sand and refinish until it was “like new,” which seemed improbable and in any event a rustic look fits the aesthetic of my cabin. I used a belt sander for my project, the “before” photo shows it lightly sanded, but I sanded just enough for some of the red grain to show through, which is very quick to do.I really love the result. The redwood grain Is RED again, and it looks aged and rustic.Ok the back steps not pictured I did not sand. I don’t recommend that, the contrast accomplished with a sanding is really worth it to make it look intentional and rustic, not just old and tray.I applied the Tung mostly with microfiber cloth attached to my Swiffer—much faster than British’s The lingering odor smells natural and pleasant to in my opinion. 5.0 de 5 estrellas I have a small need and this fits the bill!
Years ago my mom gave me a handcrafted wooden spatula she made. I like the way it feels in my palm and works when I’m mixing things. She told me she coated it with Tung Oil, so I made sure to get some after I got the spatula. I grossly overestimated how much I would need and bought a 32 oz. containing from Real Milk years ago. The last time I went to use it for my spatula, it had dried up and was a firm jelly consistency. This time I bought an 8 oz. container. It seems thinner than my original purchase ever seemed — I like that. Over the years I’ve burnt the edges of my spatula using it for mixing toffee at Christmas. I’m stopping that now and am working on concentrating the tung oil on the burnt ends of my spatula. I pour a little bit over the ends, onto a piece of plastic wrap, then coat the area a bit and follow the instructions from there (repeating several times). It’s working and the burnt ends don’t seem as dry anymore. I did a little bit of sanding to smooth down some ruff bits. Oddly enough, I like the smell of the tung oil and it helps keep my spatula in good shape year to year. I give it an application of the oil about 2x a year. I’ve also used it on our pine cabinets in our bedroom, where cats have made scratches. I just put a little bit on a rag and rub it into the scratches and later rub off any residue. It either makes the scratch invisible or darkens it a bit if the scratch is deeper. That is preferable to me rather than a white, ugly scratch.

5.0 de 5 estrellas best diluted 1:1 with citrus solvent
i refinished a very old pine floor with 1:1 mix of real milk citrus solvent and pure tung oil. one gal of each allowed for 6 coats on 500sq ft of floor with spectacular results. this was the ideal finish for my floor because i could not stay off of it for more than an hour at a time and am very sensitive to nasty chemicals. i put on a coat a day and my house smelled like orages for two weeks! i was walking on it with a dedicated pair of slippers which got a little oily but no problem. i have refinished many furniture with this same mix. since i hate the yellow tinge of pine, i dyed the floor a little with water base dye a mix of pre-mixed cherry dye and red… tip of teaspoon mixed in quart of water… the result is a really beautiful warm red tint to the floor which the tung oil finished beautifully. i never use stain on anything i do furniture or floors… water based dyes are the only way to go. tung oil cut with citrus solvent is the only wood finish worth using for any wood. non. toxic, easy to use, fool proof, easy future repairs and invisible patch repairs, supper easy to use, easy to clean after. what else do you want?! i ordered two mover solvents and another tung oil. the first set arrived in 2 days. the 2nd set was very late to arrive… i was getting ready to call. i was surprised since the first set got here so fast. still… the best price on these i have found and good service. once you use it, you will never use any other.

I used tung oil to refinish a floor two years ago, and it still looks great. This time, I used it on a ceiling that had to be replaced due to water damage. Each board was sanded and oiled before I put it up. It was not messy, handling the just-oiled boards, and they look wonderful. One 32-oz bottle did the whole thing (86 6″ X 8′ t&g boards) with some left over. The shelves around the hot tub are also finished with pure tung oil, and I included photos of a little pine cabinet and a cedar entertainment piece (covering a giant sub woofer and a rat’s nest of wires), both finished in pure tung oil and sitting on a tung-oiled maple floor. It does turn some pine boards a weird yellow color, but the yellow calms down over time and looks great. Love the stuff.

5.0 de 5 estrellas Was expensive but worth the price
I did a lot of research and almost everybody suggested using a thinner with 100% Tung oil. So I bought a gallon size of the oil and citrus solvent. The oil arrived first and so did my butcher block countertop. I wanted to try it without the citrus solvent and it worked. My bamboo countertop turned out beautiful and has a matte finish.I cut a piece of t-shirt to use as a rag to rub on the Tung oil (keep in a zip log bag for future use). I put on three coats about 45 minutes a part. The trick to making it smooth is using a 150-200 grit sand paper and sand it down once it dried. I saw this on YouTube and it worked. I will put on a another coat in 7 days and 30 days. The Tung oil is good and does not have any fumes. The price was high but definately worth it.

5.0 de 5 estrellas Looks great and easy to use
This is my first time using Tung oil. It looks great and is easy to apply. It brought a nice warm glow to the wood. There was little to no smell. I enjoyed working with this more than any other finished I’ve used, except for spray on shellac.

5.0 de 5 estrellas Great product!
This tung oil is exactly what I needed for my 2 Adirondack chairs with footstools . I had previously tried to seal them which didn’t work as it all pealed off in outdoor use. The oil soaked right in and took three coats to seal them. I will repeat as necessary, probably yearly. Also used this oil to seal a cement bird bath. It looks awesome and I will see how it works this summer. There is still about 3 quarts left in container so it is economical to use.

5.0 de 5 estrellas Nice finish and eco-friendly
I used this on an 3-shelf entertainment center I built. I put it over dyed maple. It leaves a nice matte finish, but takes a long time to dry between coats; a week or so. I thinned with odorless mineral spirits, with a higher concentration of tung oil on each coat, until the last coat at 100% tung oil. I heated the oil for the last coat in a crock pot to reduce the viscosity. You paint or spread this on, let sit for 30 minutes, then wipe away excess. Leaves a nice matte finish. This has a nice odor, like peanut oil. BTW, odorless mineral spirits are not even close to odorless. Next time, I will try citrus solvent. This is a finish requiring patience, but leaves nice results. The last coat will probably take a month or so to fully dry, but I was able to put the stereo components on it after a week.

5.0 de 5 estrellas Like Formby’s low gloss
I used to use Formby’s Tung Oil Finish, low gloss, but Minwax bought the product, and only sells the high gloss. So I read about tung oil products and decided to try making my own finish.I mixed this oil with an equal amount of odorless mineral spirits, and used a piece of an old tshirt to saturate the freshly sanded wood. So easy to spread! It accentuates the wood grain, and immediately gives the wood the appearance of having a patina.I let the wood sit for 40 minutes or so. Then I rubbed the excess off with a clean piece of an old tshirt.Four or more hours later I applied a second coat using the same procedure. Two days later I brought the item into the house. The only remaining odor was mild, apparently from the natural tung plant. Formby’s odor was similarly mild after drying, but more like toxic petrochemicals.I used one quart to cover all six sides of 4 interior knotty pine tongue-in-groove doors.

5.0 de 5 estrellas Great Product, excellent for cutting boards and butcher block wood items its non toxic and has a very pleasant scent !!
I used the RMP Pure Tung Oil and Real Milk Paint Citrus Solvent to revive and protect a thick decorative wood cutting board and a butcher block work bench. Both were dry and in need of a finish upgrade. First the cutting board was in good shape but dry. The first few coats were applied with about 3 parts Real Milk Paint Pure Tung Oil and 1 part RMP Citrus Solvent which is also a non toxic food grade product that smells nice in the home although I did the work in my garage until complete. The second round of oil was added the next day mixed at 50/50 as recommended by the RMP people. I called them for application advice and how to go about handling the rags and leftover product. I used sponge brushes to apply and between coats I just put the brush in a cup covered in foil and did the same with the product. As long as it’s a cool location below say 80 degrees the product would not suffer or diminish in quality over a few days. After 2 days and about 6 coats the cutting board came out absolutely amazing ! The finish darkened and the grain just pops so beautifully what an amazing transformation and the feeling is silky smooth and not too oily at all yet now it no longer feels dry, Perfect !! Next I did the work bench which was in need of some oil pretty bad. I applied three coats 50/50 mix waiting a few hours or until nearly dry between coats. The next day I did the same also mixed 50/50 and the bench darkend nicely but not as much as the cutting board but again after letting dry out by the third day the bench was completely revived and the finish is much more resistant to water or other spill damage. Both the bench and the cutting board are far better looking than new. In fact I should have done this to both when they were new. I purchased the 32 oz bottle of Tung oil and I have 3/4 of the bottle left so it really goes a long way. Great Product and Great Support for the RMP people.

5.0 de 5 estrellas Easy to apply and very low odor with a beautiful honey color when dried.
I bought an unfinished butcher block top kitchen cart and needed to protect the wood from kitchen spills and also from drying out from the heat. After much research for what the best product would be to do this, I decided to use Real Milk Paint Pure Tung Oil. Not only did it have the best price for the job it is food safe with low odor upon application. There are a lot of products that say ” pure tung oil ” but when you look closer at the list of ingredients it also includes others such as varnish or solvents. I still did it in a well ventilated area when applying as there is a bit of an odor but not offensive. It was way easier to apply than stain and will last longer than linseed oil. A small amount goes a very long way. I did not have to add anything to this product to get it to absorb for the first coat as some other reviewers had suggested. I was very happy with the way it covered and soaked in to my unfinished piece of furniture. I only had to apply two coats. I was very easy to tell when the wood had enough. I probably didn’t even need two coats but it did make it a dash more golden in color. I am very happy with how quick it was delivered and half the price of similar products. I definitely would buy this again.

5.0 de 5 estrellas Ancient Chinese secret!
This stuff penetrates the wood, especially the end grain. After a lot of coats, it thickens and gives an almost matte looking urethane appearance. I repaired a Juliette balcony, routed rotten wood on the joists and then treated everything with Tung oil. I even squirt Tung oil into my pilot holes and on screw and nail heads. I then let the Tung oil harden and was surprised that I was able to apply an adhesive self sealing joist flashing that stuck just as well as it would to untreated wood. I’d read that the US military used to use linseed oil on their gunstocks but then discovered Tung oil.

5.0 de 5 estrellas This is very good, pure oil.
I do a lot of woodworking, and over the years have found that for most projects, I prefer Tung oil over anything else. Polyurethane is my second go-to finish where toughness and a layer of protection over the wood is needed, but Tung oil is very protective as it penetrates well and forms a waterproof barrier in and on the wood. It is the most attractive finish I have found in terms of revealing the beauty in the wood. It requires patience though, since a good finish requires several coats, wiped out to very thin layers, which must dry a few days before adding additional coats. I find it foolproof though, and simple to use, just straight without ‘thinning’, which isn’t at all necessary for proper penetration when rubbed in well. It is simple to maintain as well, with a.freshening wipe on and off maybe annually, depending on use. It will provide a semigloss surface layer if you have the patience and time to build the coats up, and polish them out over a month of time.

5.0 de 5 estrellas Tung oil is a joy to use
I have never been a handy sort of guy, but Tung oil is so easy to use that this project was a breeze. I’m finishing six bamboo poles for use in Shibari so they will get banged around a bit, being tied together and such. I sanded lightly with 320 sandpaper to remove any residue and applied the first three coats with 24 hours between each. It’s just a matter of applying the oil liberally, letting it set for about an hour, and wiping off the excess. The first coat absorbed completely, but successive coats seemed to leave more oil on the surface. After three coats, I waited 48 hours between the next three, and 72 hours for the last coat. The oil darkens the surface and brings out the natural beauty of the material. It takes less than ten minutes for me to apply the oil to the six, two-inch by three-foot poles, and much less than that to wipe them down later. Perhaps fifteen minutes total. With seven coats that an hour forty-five for the whole project, but spread over ten days. I used less than half of the thirty-two ounces, so I have plenty left for repairs or other pieces I may want to finish. Tung oil is non-toxic so I didn’t wear any hand protection. It’s non-volatile so no breathing protection, and it smells rather pleasantly like peanuts. After, it washes off easily with a little detergent. As to how durable the finish is, that remains to be seen.

5.0 de 5 estrellas Real Chinawood Oil
This is real Tung oil from China. Not whatever is in those cans in the big box place You have to renew every 3 months forever. Its food grade, not thinned, the stuff that has been doing preserving work and hand rubbed luster for 2000 years. I mix it one half oil to one half mineral spirits. brush, roll, spread around with your bare hand. but apply liberally. leave it for about a half hour. Then rub with clean white rags. rub till dry in appearance. This is a “drying oil” Oxygen catalyzes it. So don’t leave it on with puddles and not rub it dry or you will have a gooey mess. This is by FAR the easiest finish to apply. Apply every other day till you have 3 coats. It will leave a golden, satin, finish that will amaze you. After a couple more days it will be very scratch resistant. At most in 6 months It might need one more coat. Then it will be good for years. Excellent for raw wood floor finish, tables , even as a polish. Your friends will ask how you got that rich color.

5.0 de 5 estrellas My Oak Floors still gorgeous after 8 years
I knew that my 80+ year old oak floors could only withstand one more light sanding so I did not want to get polyurethane that, if you have damage, can’t be retouched in just the area without resanding the entire floor again. They were in really horrible condition and several floor refinishing guys said they were not salvageable and those willing to give me a quote, gave me outlandish quotes and would have only used a polyurethane finish. So, I rented a U-sander (idiot proof floor sander that has a bag to collect the dust) and sanded myself and used the half and half version – tung oil with the citrus solvent. The results are so gorgeous, still gorgeous and everyone has asked who did the floors. ME. With the help of Milk Paint half and half and expert help from the wonderful people who work there.

5.0 de 5 estrellas THE REAL THING
I refinished a dry, faded out redwood picnic table (photo on Right side) with The Real Milk Paint Company 100% Pure Tung Oil and Mineral Spirits, mixed in various ratios from 30/70, 40/70, then final coat of 50/50. Thats 30% Tung oil, 70% mineral spirits, etc. The Mineral Spirits helped to carry the Tung oil into the fibers of the wood, where it begins to harden and become part of the wood, every 3 days we increased the ratio of Tung oil, and applied it with a foam brush in very thin coats, then wiped it from with cotton rags after 40 minutes and let it cure in a well ventilated room with fans to circulate air. Final coat allowed to cure for 30 days. We will continue the final coat yearly to maintain the waterproof finish. Time intensive but worth it. Keep in mind Tung oil hardens in the wood fibers, it does not dry. Very supportive customer service as well. Beware that most products say “tung oil finish” but read the label, there is no tung oil in it at all, case in point is Minwax. I asked hardware employee for Tung oil and he showed me Minwax, when I asked him to show me on the label where it said tung oil in the ingredients he was shocked there was none. Canadian woodworking magazine had a great article by Cynthia White that will teach you everything you need to know. Research is the key because there is so much misinformation out there. TAKE YOUR TIME has to be your mantra to work with Tung oil. I’m so very happy with the results of our family picnic table, which I was lucky enough to work on during my Hawaiian vacation at my cousins house in Honolulu.

5.0 de 5 estrellas Very easy to use and my butcher block looks great!
I added an acacia butcher block into the end of my kitchen island. I used 3 coats of the Real Milk Paint Tung Oil and I am very pleased with the finished look. I have attached two photos of the butcher block, one photo shows about half half of the butcher block covered in with the first coat of tung oil and the other photo is the completely finished butcher block withe the full 3 coats of tung oil. I left the tung oil on for 24 hours before each application. I applied the tung oil with a paint brush and wiped off any excess oil with a paper towel.Follow up: I accidentally ran a sharper than expected bread knife through a loaf of bread and the end of the blade put a deep cut into my butcher block counter. I was a little freaked out about how bad the cut looked but I immediately poured a little of the tung oil over the cut and rubbed it in with my finger, the cut immediately darkened and faded away…I can’t even tell a deep cut was there, this stuff is awesome!
