After the absolute best silver polish stopped being manufactured, I’ve been on the hunt for a new holy grail. I’m pleased to say that, after years of searching, I believe this product ends my search. I’ve tried others that seemed to work but would start to tarnish again after just a few days (!!), others that left a film, and still others that sucked in some way or other. I polished some silver pieces that are heirlooms a few weeks ago and they are still bright and show no signs of tarnish. Just like my favorite. Buy this, you will not regret it.

Not what I was expecting or needing. Might work if you are polishing teapots but I wanted it for jewelry, and it is just a thick paste. I was hoping for a foam that would get into nooks and crannies.

This product works very well. I received some family trays that had been horribly neglected. They were heavily black. Let me say…the products work…if you add the elbow grease. My very black trays are now a shiny silver again. I love the Hagerty line of products. I recommend using them. What you need to know is how to use them to make them work best for you.I’ve cleaned a lot of neglected silver and found a method that works great with these two Hagerty products: the Hagerty Silver Foam and the Hagerty Silversmiths’ Polish.I use blue automotive paper towels and wear latex gloves. The Silversmiths’ Polish does have an extreme odor, as other reviewers mention. (I believe the odor is because it is an anti-tarnish polish.) It is so bad that it makes my nose burn. I highly recommend using it in a well ventilated area. Dispose of the paper towels in an outside trash can when done.Wearing your latex gloves, start cleaning your silver piece with the Silver Foam. It doesn’t take a lot of product. Just a dab on a paper towel. Rub it on the piece. Start polishing. Continue applying foam and polishing until you have the piece as clean as you want it…until there is no longer any black coming off. Rinse it off with water and dry.Now it’s time to use the Hagerty Silversmiths’ Polish. This will give it one last good cleaning and put a coat of anti-tarnish on it. Remember to do this with your latex gloves in a well ventilated area.If you store your silver pieces, remember to wrap them in flannel or cheese cloth and place in an anti-tarnish bag or use anti-tarnish strips to help prevent tarnishing.I have not received any compensation for my review. I’m just giving my feedback on my experience with the product. I hope this helps you with your decisions.

the best silver cleaning paste. i tried so many silver washes, tarnish removers, and foams. After using a small amount applied to my silver ring then using a cloth rag to wipe the cleaner off – the black tarnish came off and the ring was so shiny and bright —wow! the best cleaner ever.

Talk about a hot mess. Think of this as a cream/clay consistency. Make sure you have a rag and gloves handy before you get into this. For me the smell was mild. It didn’t bother me much at all. The application of this, along with the buffing took some getting use to. It might be handy to have a toothbrush too because this can get out of hand quick. Overall results were great. I might opt for an immersive cleaner next time because this doesn’t make me want to clean my jewelry.

I don’t have any silver flatware but I got this for my sterling silver jewelry. I have a lot of it. I have polishing cloths but it’s so much work and so time consuming and it doesn’t get in the crevices. The stuff does! I used a cloth and then a soft toothbrush to get in the nooks and crannies of my jewelry and then rinsed them with soap and water and I couldn’t believe how clean they got and how quickly it worked. The first photo is a before and after and it’s not the best example because I had already cleaned almost all of my jewelry before I decided to write this review. That’s because I was so excited! But the other photos show super clean jewelry that was all cleaned using the Hagerty’s.

My mom passed a few years ago and somehow I was the lucky one who received all the silver she loved so much. I tried all kinds of polishes and cleaners. And I thought I would never get the silver clean. And lets face it the polishes on the market smell awful and don’t really seem to work. I was beginning to think this was some evil joke a silversmith made up to keep people busy. Then I came across a can of the spray polish and a jar of the Foam my mom had tucked away in a cabinet. I couldn’t believe it. The foam has no foul smell. And another HUGE plus is that after cleaning the tarnish on the silver the tarnish did not end up all over me. It was really easy to use. And the spray polish gives it an incredible shine. Ok so the spray polish in the blue can might stink a little, it’s odor is nothing like some of the other products I used. I will never use anything else other than Hagerty.

Where do I start? I’ve used polish from jewelry shops that didn’t do near as much as this! I did turn off my bathroom light trying to get better lighting after the first picture to try and show the difference best. It was so fast to clean my rings and they came out a million times better than I thought they would!!! I did use 3 different 100% cotton wash cloths. One for cleaning, one for rinsing in warm water, and one for drying. You won’t regret buying this in my opinion! 🙂

I have an extensive collection of sterling silver jewelry, but over time it all gets tarnished even with using a polishing cloth. I read a review about this foam product so I bought some. What a difference! In my picture I show a necklace before and after – and the cleaning took about a minute! Whoever said in their review that this is addictive was right – once I got started I pulled out the entire collection and everything now sparkles like new! Also great if you buy 2nd hand pieces – don’t let a little tarnish are you away. A minute with the foam and everything is sparkling!

This is my go-to for cleaning silver. It’s easy to use, and does a great job polishing all silver. I’ve not tried it on any other metals – can only speak to silver. It foams nicely and just needs water and a sponge, making washing the silverware a one-step process rather than cleaning, then polishing. No heavy scrubbing – tarnish comes right off and the shine lasts a long time.

WOW!!!! This stuff works amazingly and fast!! Polished my stuff up really nice! I had a sterling silver ring with and amber stone and a silver Tiffany’s bracelet that had both suddenly turned black and tarnished after a vacation. I was pretty sad. I was worried about a harsh product on my Tiffany’s bracelet which was an x mas gift from my man so I was hesitant. This stuff really works. I’ll post a pic when I get a chance too. I started on the ring to make sure it didn’t do anything crazy before I used it on my bracelet. I used a dry white washcloth on each, rubbed it around a bit, then rinsed off. Holy cow what a difference. I never write reviews but had to for this one since it saves my Jewelry. And you get a TON!! Bonus!

Hagerty Silver Foam Polish Hagerty / B000BODTWQI was expecting that this “foam” would be something cool and liquid-y – something you could drop jewelry into and have it come back out tarnish-free. Instead, this polish is a highly viscous semi-solid that requires a touch of elbow grease and work in order to remove tarnish… but it *does* work fairly well and seems to be about as non-harsh as one can hope for these sorts of things.This polish has no scent or odor and washes out of cloth with nothing more than soap and water. Silver pieces with tarnish are restored to a lustrous shine, except in the case of one necklace I tried to polish to no avail – I can’t say for certain, though, whether that particular necklace was actually silver or just silver-plated (or painted, even) and the actual silver had just rubbed off, rather than outright tarnish.I would definitely recommend this polish – I’m very happy with it and it does the job. I do still wish for a “soaking” polisher, if only because it’s not always easy to rub this foam in tight spots, like necklace chains or fine detail work. But it’s perfectly fine for most pendants, rings, bracelets, and the like.~ Ana Mardoll

Not pasty like other cleaners. Easily foams up and gets in cracks, then washes away without leaving residue or paste stuck in cracks. My only reason for taking off a star is my concern that the container will not keep the paste fresh and it will dry up over time into a solid mass (like other silver cleaners). I would suggest a better sealing container to prevent this, but hard to say what will happen over time. This container is pretty large and it will probably take me years to use it all on my few silver pieces of jewelry, so I hope it lasts! I would also recommend using a soft brush (horsehair) to apply and get in the cracks.

it requires a LOT of elbow grease. Takes a lot of time, patience and work. Rub, rub, rub – especially if it is not a smooth surface. I cleaned a couple of small trays that have designs on the edges and it takes a lot of work having to get into each and every crevice and curve to get it clean.

Removed severe tarnish on antique silver. However, required extensive rubbing and multiple treatments. Company video showing easy cleaning of severe tarnish is a joke. Might be true for very light tarnish. Best part of this product is that it caused no apparent damage or wear to surface details. Overall, worth the cost and effort.

This is my go to silver polish. It works very well and I like to use a sea sponge with it to clean my silver. Over time, if you don’t use it though, the product dries out.

I’ve been using this product for over ten years now thanks to my Husband who brought it home for me to try. I was looking for a good silver cleaner instead of the liquid sliver cleaner that didn’t really clean and tarnish again in a week. I was so impressed after using on silver jewelry and how well it cleaned the old silver silverware, I tried it on gold with diamond ring using cleaner with a soft bristle brush and it was cleaner than using the cleaner I’d used for years. It’s very easy to use without allot of scrubbing and wiping with sliver clothes. I just rub cleaner on the silver for a few minutes and rinse off. The silver looks new again. I don’t use anything else for my silver now.

I used very little, yet in the time the lid was open the product shrank in the jar. It’s twice the amount of most products, but is shrinking fast so I think the 8 oz products might last longer. Yet it’s twice the price of the 8 oz products.

Like at least two other reviewers reported, my shipment of this product arrived spilling intp a plastic container bag around the jar. The caps are not being put securely onto the jars sometime before packing. The spillage lost maybe 6-8 ounces and was a bit of a pain to cleanup, but not worth trying to complain for credit or return it. The remaining 12 or so ounces will probably last me a couple of years, and there’s nothing wrong with the jar when the lid is secured tightly. I don’t see how this could happen. I deducted a star for this.The product itself is very good. I used it to clean silverware. It is gentle, brings out a great shine, and doesn’t seem to leave any residue.I also use their Silversmiths’ Silver Wash (which, by the way, arrived with no spillage issue) on decorative silver. It is also good, but it contains some sort of protectant tarnish inhibitor that it leaves on the silver, so I wouldn’t use that one for dinnerware.

I am absolutely AMAZED with this cleaner!!! No hard scrubbing. A simple wipe and the tarnish on my jewelry was gone. I only posted the ring that was most tarnished. I also cleaned my my husband’s wedding ring (he works with dirt, oil, grime, etc all day long) and my white gold and diamond wedding rings. Now they sparkle and shine like new again!!Only a very small amount had to be used (some of what stuck to the lid) and it worked like a charm. It is a big container so it will last a long time! It doesn’t smell good. It smells like hair dye to me. But if that’s the only issue I have for such an amazing product, I’ll deal with it!!!

I have always just used the dip you can get in the Walmart jewelry department, but this product is SO SUPERIOR to that!It works like a charm, yet is so gentle on the jewelry! The dip I’m accustomed too seemed to damage my jewelry over time. Not this!This requires a tiny amount of elbow grease – you put it on a soft cloth and rub it over the jewelry or other silver piece – but it’s actually kind of fun! Just make sure you use a cloth that you don’t mind being stained or dirty. The product is a mauve color and the tarnish will come off in black stains on the cloth.

My Grandmother used this product back in the 70’s/80’s and I always was amazed of how her silver tea set would gleam and also the length of time it stayed shining. I highly recommend this product. This polish was really great for getting the tarnish out of my silver jewelry, but especially the bracelets. The chain link necklaces were much harder to fix. You can see the one necklace was almost black in my picture. I had to polish 2x, & there was improvement, but I really let it go to long. Was so impressed with how the bracelets cleaned up. I definitely recommend this product. It’s best to store in velvet boxes away from air to prevent future tarnish.

After reading other reviews, I wanted to make sure I ordered a product that not only worked well but had little or no odor. It has a creamy texture and is easy to apply with a soft cloth. It is messy but that’s to be expected.It rinses off easy in warm water and has no odor. I used it for vintage silver plate items and am pleased with the outcome.

My old silverware from the 40’s was given to me by my father. I have enjoyed it in the past and I plan on giving it to my oldest daughter if she wants it. The silverware has been shut up for many years has varnished whether badly. I have cleaned some of it and what I have cleaned has been improved. The varnish is doing a fairly good job.

I’ve been using Hagerty Silver Foam for fifty years. It was recommended to me as a young bride, by the jeweler who lived across the street from my parents. He suggested using a “natural sponge” to clean with, so down through the years I’ve kept one on hand to clean the sliver. I must admit that it’s not my favorite thing to do, but the silver foam makes the job simple and easy. It cleans easily those intricate places in the silver that get tarnished because they’re hard to get to. There’s none of the messy, chalky stuff that needs to be buffed off the silver. The foam works into a lather that acts like soap and water would, and lifts the tarnish away in the simple act of cleaning. You just dry the silver when finished as if you were drying the dishes after washing. Couldn’t be easier. As the years go by my silver gets less action, and fewer cleanings than it should, so many times I’m faced with “Oh,Oh” situations that require a little extra elbow grease, but I haven’t had a problem bringing it back with the my Hagerty’s. I also have to add that I’ve used it on jewelry for years. Works great. Especially chains that get tarnished where the links connect, and would otherwise be impossible to get into. The sponge with the sudsy polish get right into those crevices and grooves. It’s nice to know I can now order this product from Amazon. In the distant past I had to go to an upscale department store that carried fine china and silver. Here’s a tip from that same jeweler who recommended it – and one I’ve used down through the years. When finishing up the silver cleaning, I always make a little well in the paste and add a few ounces of water. Cap it up securely when finished. The next time it’s needed, there will be a semi-liquid paste ready to use, and easier to work into a foam. Rinse out the natural sponge and leave it to air-dry on top of the container.

Hagarty silver polish is the best. But someone should have checked that the jar was securely closed before shipping, because it came open in transit and spilled about half of the contents into the bag in which it was packed.
