I used this to remove water spots on a two year old F150 that apparently sat outside and looked like it got hit by sprinklers every day of its short life. It didn’t completely remove them but they’re like 80% gone. Added a fresh coat of JaxWax graphene spray afterwards and shines like a diamond.

I was out on the interstate where it was freshly paved. Fresh oul got on my white qx80 infiniti. We tried everything to get it off nothing worked untill I was introduced to the Clay bar. Patients and dedication takes it off. Truck is keep the clay bar lubricanted and work in small areas.

Bought this a donkey’s age ago to remove water marks. Finally used this week, while on vacation, and the results are superb. Paint as shiny as it was coming out of the factory. Incredibly easy to use and I was taken aback by how little effort was really required. 10 out of 10 – strongly recommended, will certainly use again.

Using a clay bar on your vehicle is not a quick project so you might as well have something that smells nice. You can see the before (right) and after (Left) in my photo. It greatly improved and brightened the pain on my car. Plus, the clay bar was smooth so I didn’t worry about scratching. Super easy to use.

I have been doing a bunch of carbon fiber up grades to my car. At the end of every layup, I sprayed clear coat on each finished piece. I pulled my car out of the garage, but somehow my car got covered in overspray. I tried to polish it out, but to no avail! I was beside my self and thought I had ruined the car’s paint job. I found this product and was extremely skeptical that it was just another gimmick. I could not be more wrong!! I used the clay bar as per instructions and it removed every bit of overspray and left the car’s paint as smooth as silk. What a cheep fix to an expensive mess up! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!

I’ve never used a clay bar before, but this was really easy to use!! Just time consuming, so make sure you have the time to do it right. Also, I should have used gloves because my hands turned blue from the bottle I was holding the whole time. Brought my 21-year-old Mustang back to looking brand new!!! Going to buy another kit for my other Mustang… Definitely recommend!! Thank you again, Chemical guys!!

I found the clay bar to be overly sticky and hard to detach from a ziplock that I initially placed it. It was also a bit too sticky to my hand compared to another product that I tried. Either way it did the job. The application sponge, cloth, liquid, and wax were all great and provided good results. I have not tried the soap yet.

i washed my car and felt the surface thinking or a little bit here and there, that must be normal. NOO!! omg after using the clay bar everything is like perfectly polished smooth. Which only make everything else i did work better. Yes it’s annoying to hand polish the car with this stuff, but the difference it makes is amazing. Also why the hell does the spray stuff smell delicious, smells like a tropical punch bubblegum something.

I used to run a detailing business on the side but currently just maintain my own vehicles. Love the clay lube but this amount barely lasts for a single car. Clay bar is also a bit sticky in hot weather. Not my favorite. I’ll be going back to my tried and true method of using diluting Optimum No Rinse into clay lube instead. A single 32 oz bottle of that lasts me for several years using it as clay lube and rinseless wash.

The lube itself is good.But, the sprayer on the bottle simply would not spray.I had to break the sprayer off of the top of the bottle (it would not unscrew) and then transfer the lube to another bottle with a working sprayer.

Not a complete kit does not come with a rubbing polish to get out small scratches. Also the bottles that come with this kit are so small you likely will only be able to wax one or two cars. This system is not a good value.

This clay bar saved my car. Someone dropped a 5 gallon bucket of paint in the middle of the road and I happened to drive through it. My car was COVERED. I tried a power washer, engine degreaser, you name it, and nothing took the paint off my beautiful brand new car. I was sick over it. I had this clay bar kit in my garage because I was preparing to strip and put a fresh coat of wax on my car prior to this incident, so I figured “what the heck, let’s give it a shot”. This clay bar, almost effortlessly, removed every spec of paint from my car and left my original paint finish perfectly polished. I have since ordered a new clay bar to give the car another once-over and actually put that fresh coat of wax on now. THANK YOU for an amazing product, my car looks showroom ready again!

My BMW M2 Competition was due for a detail and I realized I was out of clay – so I ordered this clay kit, broke out the polisher and gave it a nice once over. The clay was great, I just wish I didn’t drop two different chunks of it and have to discard them immediately after. The Lubricant was great as well – super easy to remove and no streaking.

I followed all the steps to a T to decontaminate my white rear bumper from years of neglect. I assumed the bumper would need repainting. After almost an hour of clay barring a relatively small area, initially I wasn’t impressed with the amount of vigorous work I performed, but once I got to the butter wax that’s when my mind became absolutely blown by the original paints finish. The butter wax was absolutely amazing and melted away the remaining decontamination. I wish I would have taken before and after pictures. I’ll probably buy another kit, and look forward to doing the whole car! I probably have enough product still but this is worth having on hand whenever I need it. Thanks Chemical Guys!

I bought a 2022 Chevy Silverado and discovered after I got it home from the dealership that there was quite a bit of what appeared to be white spray paint overspray on the passenger side door panels extending back to rear quarter panel. This product took it right off! Amazing! It is very labor intensive but absolutely works! You can “hear” when all the particles have been lifted off the paint. Used about 3/5 of the bottle for one vehicle and there were many many things that came out of my paint so I probably wont’ use the bar again but will definitely purchase again for my other vehicles.

First time clay job (original/yellow) on a 9-year old BMW 335 with 45,000 miles, garaged and always hand washed. Followed up with their ceramic wax finish. Now the car looks looks great on the outside and meh on the inside…leaving yet another job for me to do.I definitely got the smooth-as-glass feel and the overall process resulted in a great shine. But it’s not a miracle worker and the remnants of contaminant staining are still somewhat visible—all smooth-as-glass—on the painted surfaces, especially on the hood. This was done a couple days ago and it hasn’t rained since, but the most noticeable benefit is on the glass. I took at least 5 years off the windshield and side mirrors with this stuff.I used about 1/3rd of the clay and 2/3rds of the lube solution on this car and I don’t think I was overdoing it on the spray, so heads up to CG to consider a slightly larger bottle in this package. Now that my wife has ordered a clay job for her vehicle I guess I’ll just add water and cross my fingers.FWIW, my friends all thought I was nuts for doing this because the car looked fine in their opinion and your factory paint is light-years better than your father’s. So unless you’ve got really high mileage or park outside all the time this is really optional labor. A CG video I watched showed the transformation of a filthy off-roader from death to beauty queen with a wash and ceramic wax only, skipping the clay altogether. Sometimes perfection is in your head…UPDATE: CAR #2I did my wife’s car, a ‘18 Porsche, garaged, with under 30,000 miles. Same clay and ceramic treatment.First, I tried to add water to the remaining lube solution only to discover the cap comes “locked” and the spray bottle cannot be opened. CG gets a demerit for allowing their marketing team and accountants to design product. Common guys, this is not a $3 item. Give us a break.The treatment seemed to work as well as it did on my bimmer: glass finish with underlying contaminants still visible. Looks like it didn’t get all the water staining. Her car is dark blue, mine is black, and the black ended up looking better. Really good shine, but I attribute that to the ceramic wax as I missed a small area on the passenger door with the clay and could not tell the difference afterwards unless I ran my hand over it.Bottom line: I think the clay is a good step—and it really does make the finish feel smooth—but like most of what you buy based on googling, the hype is usually better than the experience.

I don’t know how to rate this. I’m not a car detailer but I’m also not helpless. I didn’t notice a difference after claying my 25 year old hood. Only thing I noticed, is the lube smells good. (Doesn’t seem to work any different than lukewarm water in my opinion) I do think for 25 bucks, they need to include more, like a towel or 2. Maybe an applicator pad.. i am seeing that Chemical guys’ prices, are starting to out-run their quality. I noticed it with the Outrageous price of v-line compounds after I bought their DA polisher kit. But the good polishing pads make up for that one.

Chemical Guys have some of the best products on the market. They are a reliable brand and this kit is no exception. I try to clay my car a couple times a year due to the amount of driving I do and ensure that I keep lots of wax on it otherwise. If you’re looking for additional products to get into, I recommend their their interior products. I particularly like their ceramic coating. Also as a side note, with the wax – you can use the wax on your windows to help with precipitation and dirt/grime. So if you’re not 100% sold via reviews and such, give them a try because they are absolutely worth it.

Wish the product had came with a little bigger clay bar and detailed instructions besides just spray solution first and go over with clay bar in this direction. Had to go searching online to see if car needs washed before, if can use if cars still wet or not, and details that would be helpful for those who arent pros. My car gets alot of sun and hotter then most places ive been in sun at but live on the side of mountain and everyone else sits below me so might be why..got this because noticed some spots that my paint/seal was either starting to come off or close to it. My hood still had clear coat so tried to save it first, ive noticed if your just looking for that shine added, it works great. But so far any actual damaged spots, it has done notta for me and even went over them more then once. Had an arbor that the wind blew over and it fell over onto my car, didnt dent just scuffed paint off onto my car and it hasnt taken off a tiny spec of it after probably 4 attempts now. I used another brands product b4 this and it left little scratches on my car, not deep ones though, and it didnt help them either. Hoped itd atleast remove the little clear pieces where my clear coat did start coming off or atleast smooth it out but once again no luck. So for shine, id give it 4 stars but anything else, I’d give it 2 stars being pretty generous

I never write reviews but my car is my baby and know others feel the same. This product blew my expectations! My TLX had way too much overspray when I bought it, didn’t realize until after I signed. The texture felt like it was a bad paint job. Like really bad. This product took the overspray away without having to use any effort, just spray and rub. No scratches or harm to the paint, which is huge since this was painted in the NSX factory.

Good clay bar but just enough for small sports car. My car is black and by the time I was done so was the clay bar. There wasn’t enough to find a clean surface. Also you will need many more clay bars to use all of the lubricant in the spray bottle. You should have extra clay bars because if you drop this slippery and small clay bar your done.

The clay bar is great. My experience with Chemical Guy’s products is great (BIG FAN of Diablo wheel cleaner and Inner Clean interior cleaner) but the Clay Lube is the first product I’ve used from them that I was not pleased with. Don’t get me wrong. It did what it was supposed to do… acted as a clay bar lubricant, but it dyed my hand blue. 3 washes and my finger tips are still blue. I had about half a bottle left and dumped it. I’ve never had a problem with Meguiar’s or Adam’s Detail Sprays as clay bar lubricants so will go back to those or use diluted ONR or Wolfgang Concours moving forward.

How can some clay remove overspray?This really works!I purchased a Ford F150 and after I got it home and really looked it over it had what looked like primer overspray on the bed and tailgate.I used the clay and the spray and it removed it with very little effort.Definitely a good purchase and will definitely recommend this product!

I was wondering about name brand versus much cheaper alternatives on Amazon. I got a purple 3 pack for the same price as this kit with the luber.The purple bars were small and the amount of clay for 3 bars was similar to the chemical guys not more. The clay was sticky and needed alot of kneading to get going. It did work but not nearly as nice to use. I’m using the purple stuff on the worst jobs, like a really dirty bumper, then toss them.

My car care experience started in the Rain Dance/Simoniz era of the 70s, where all you knew was hours of hard labor. Wax on wax off, rub rub rub, get another towel, check it again oh crud there’s still more wax to remove, you know the drill. Fast forward to the modern era… I ventured into using clay bars about a decade ago, a spray detailer/clay bar kit from Mothers impulse buy at Walmart. I repurchased the same product a couple of times and though was happy with it I felt it was time to try something new.The reviews on this product were enough to tip me away from Mothers and the results are tremendously different. Application and usage is generally the same with all of these products. Mist an area, rub with light pressure back and forth. Microfiber towel dry. Smash the bar and flatten. Repeat.I could tell a *noticeable* difference in the feel of the car surface but I wasn’t sure it was real or my imagination. I was planning to wax both cars so I did a quick test. I had some Mothers left over so I used that on the hood of one car and Chemical Guys on the other. Sure as heck it was different! The CG application felt smoother and more glossy. I did another test gently gliding a clean and dry microfiber towel across both surfaces. The Mothers surface glide did ok but had some resistance. The CG surface glide resulted in the towel sliding right off the hood and onto the floor! I’m sold!I use Meguiar’s NXT Generation Tech Spray Wax 2.0. I know… it’s not ceramic but for me it’s easy without the PTSD memories of the 70s. Just wipe a very thin layer on and let ‘er dry. It worked great over the top of the CG clay bar application. Easy on and easy off. The results are amazing. Both cars just sparkle!The best part was that I did both cars (Outback and Forester) in about 4 hours, and most of that time was waiting for the wax to dry. And I’m not wiped out! With less labor and a reasonable time commitment, I find that I wax the cars more than once a year.Anyway… thanks for reading my review this far. I purchased two of the Chemical Guys Clay Bar & Lubricant Kits to remove the impurities in the clearcoat of two of my vehicles. I had never used a clay kit before and had decided after watching a YouTube video to give it a go prior to waxing.The first vehicle, a 2009 Mini Cooper (silver with a black top) is in good shape, but if you were to run your hand across the paint, particularly on the roof, you could feel the bumps in the clearcoat. I decided to get it washed and give this kit a try, making sure to use back-and-forth motions and not circular ones as I went along.The lubricant spray has a pleasant odor. The spray allows the claybar to glide across the surface of the car. It’s important to generously spray the lubricant and not allow the claybar to have any drag on the surface.I probably could have used a medium-duty claybar for the Mini, but the light-duty claybar with this kit did work well, it just took me more passes in the same area before it bacame smooth. I folded the claybar multiple times while working on the car and could see the impurities being picked up by it on the claybar as little dark bits.I wore rubbler gloves while completing the claybar exercise on my vehicle. I’d recommend that, as I think the lubricant may stain your hands with a light blue color. I also think that if you ran out of lubricant spray while doing the claybar rub of your vehicle, you could use soapy water.After the claybar of my car I waxed it. The results were excellent and I could see how this kit helped me to achieve a “like new” appearance of the paint. This was particularly noticeable on the black top, which was shiny like glass without any water spots or bumps.I recommend this product to anyone who has noticed a bumpiness to their clearcoat and wants to take an extra bit of care to refresh their vehicle’s paint. It does take time to do this and it is an extra step between washing and waxing, but once a year or so – it’s worth it – to keep your vehicle looking nice!

It worked great to clean a car that I got a little acrylic paint over sprey on. I think that car looked as good as when it rolled off the factory floor, minus dents and abrasions.I did also go through most of the bottle of lube for one car. Lots of clay left though.It’s a great product, but… It turned my finger blue.

Fantastic product, BUT you MUST know how to use it. So many negative reviews are “user error”, because this stuff requires skill and a lot of patience (not to mention an arm/shoulder workout).The clay is the perfect composition, easy enough to work, but it doesn’t break up or disintegrate even with aggressively working at my windshield (I wouldn’t work that hard on the paint).I have not tried the “heavier” versions as I have a newer vehicle and the paint is well maintained (my family would say “obsessively” or “babied”), I just don’t know about the “black” one, you want the clay to have a color where you can see it is dirty.The luber is good, but just about any detail spray will work, just DON’T do a “quick wax” or “wash and wax” with clay, you gum up the clay and lock the contaminates into the paint instead of lifting them off. Not a fan of the bubble gum smell, but there are worse smells out there (I’m looking at you Turtle Wax).Clay has 2 purposes: 1. Full decontamination or 2. Spot removal of tar, sap, etc. I’ve used it for both now with great results. My most common use is removing tree sap from paint and glass without resorting to a harsh cleaner.After taking delivery of my new vehicle, I expected there to be some amount of “rail dust” and other contamination from the shipping process. I wasn’t wrong and this worked wonders.Before doing any kind of sealant on the paint, you want to make the clay bar part of this process: 1. Deep clean wash (something like “Clean Slate” or Dawn or a De-greaser), 2. Chemical decontamination with an iron remover, 3. Clay bar to mechanically remove any remaining contaminants. Finish up optionally with mechanical polishing (new car so I’ll do this next year), then a sealant, wax, or coating.Working with a clay bar: 1. Tear or cut off a small piece (1/4 of the bar) removing ANY plastic wrap, there are plastic sheets on BOTH sides of this bar, absolutely be sure it is gone and it is very sticky so this isn’t easy, 2. spray the clay and your fingers with the luber, 3. work the clay into a half dollar size disk, feel for any odd textures (pieces of plastic left over, I found one once), 4. spray luber on a 1-2 foot section of paint, 5. working in small circles over that section a couple of passes, add more luber as needed, it should ALWAYS be gliding across the paint or glass, never sticking or dragging, 6. wipe off with a microfiber towel and inspect visually and tactility it should be a tad shinier and be incredibly smooth, 7. the clay should now have some amount of discoloration (love the yellow color as it shows this VERY well), fold it over, knead it back into a disk so a clean surface shows again, go back to step 4 and repeat over the entire vehicle paint and glass. IF the clay has become dark to the point you can’t get a clean surface OR you have dropped it on the ground, DISCARD IT and get another piece. That last bit is critical, if the clay itself gets contaminated too much it will start to scratch the paint.

After washing and drying the car this is easy to use and really provides a smooth finish. I then finish it off with “The Last Coat” and feel good about my car’s protection for 6+ months. Every time I walk by my car I rub my fingers on it admiring the silky smooth finish.

Background: truck is ~10 months old, and somehow had sand/other junk stuck in the paint. It has ~22k miles and is a workhorse. As for my experience with a clay bar, it’s been about a decade since I have used one.Alright. I really have zero cons for this product. Here is the process:1) clean the vehicle, dry it and put it into a cool place to chill out. Cool to the touch.2) spray a little area and run the bar until it’s glassy smooth. Continue on each panel and do the whole thing. You will see residue after, and that’s fine.3) Using a micro fiber cloth, simply wipe the area down and clear off said residue. On my truck; it came right off.Now the things I really liked:- they gave you enough bar/solution for my RAM. I could have stretched it to a second, but I dropped it a few times.- the residue that was left behind after using the bar came right up.- it was minimal effort. The sand and other stuff came right up and onto the clay piece I was using.I really have zero cons. If you do this, you will probably need a few other things:1) micro fiber clothes.2) some sort of sealant (I use their ceramic quick stuff. Worked well).11/10 would buy again.
