This Polisher is definitely worth every penny! Its heavy duty, comes with the right compounds needed to clear up paint scratches, minor scratches and just overall polish your vehicle. I had some paint scratches that this polish cleared up without breaking a sweat. Highly recommend if you want to make your car look brand near-brand new or just wanna clean up some paint defects or scratches. You’re gonna get more than you expect.

*disclaimer**I’m a weekend warrior not a professional*I’ve owned this for a while now. I’ve done 5 cars with it. The first 4 I was learning. I didn’t know any better. I’d never done a paint correction before. I started with the included pads and included polishes/compounds on my personal car just to play around with it and looking for ANY results. Well it made the car a little shinier but didn’t touch the scratches in the slightest. I used all sorts of combinations of pads and the lowest numbered products that come in the kit and no dice. I looked into a Facebook detailing group and got some suggestions for pads and compounds. I decided to pick up some car guys VSS. Using the same pads on a buddies FJ cruiser I seemed to take some of the scratches out of his paint but I wasn’t truly happy with the results. I tried getting a new set of pads this time. A friend wanted me to try to do his Pontiac vibe. With the new pads and some Meguiers 105 I was able to do about the same, barely taking any of the scratches out but for sure making the paint look a little better. All of these times I was rushed for time so I suppose you could chalk them up to user error. I finally said “I’m done with this no results BS I want to see results.” I prepared well. I picked up a set of lake county pads. One of each an orange white and black. I started on my trunk with VSS and the white pad. Nothing. I I tried VSS with an orange pad. Nothing. I tried meguiers 105 and the orange pad. Nothing. I tried all sorts of pressures and speed settings. Finally after about 10 passes I was able to get most of the scratches out aside from the deep ones. I worked for many hours on the rest of my car after I found this combination and spent the better part of a day on just the cutting stage. I still have light scratches in the paint but the clarity of my reflections in the paint looks measurably better than before. So this is a mixed bag. This polisher works. It hasn’t died on me yet and it’s been run wide open for quite a bit. The toggle switch to turn the machine on and off isn’t super ergonomic or nice to use but it works just fine. Although I did have some problems turning the machine on and off while I was using it the last. If you’re after results I would look else where than here. This polisher probably won’t do it wether you’re using the included pads and compounds or separate better ones.TLDRThis polisher would save you time compared to hand waxing or hand applying coatings but if you’re really looking to do a paint correction find something else.

Product arrived exactly on time. First thing is how well the kit was packaged (I got the 9 piece set). Be advised, go ahead and get pad conditioner. It should be part of the deal, but it isn’t…whatever. It make a difference.Second…WELL DONE on the machine! It is well-designed, well-built, solid, balanced and plenty powerful (I have the corded model), which has a OPM range of 1200-4200 per minute. I’m sharing that because I had trouble finding that info. Its in the manual, though. The high setting is plenty for heavy cutting and at that setting the machine is very smooth. With a good grip technique you can easily change speed settings on the fly. The quality on/off switch is recessed on the rear of the unit.Third…I am going to have to give the chemical guys products a better look. I am so far impressed. I did two cars with the 32, 34, 36, 38 4 ounce bottles. They worked really well on one, in which I was dealing with a bad paint job (5/10). After the fourth bottle, 38 the final polish before wax, I can call it 8/10 easy.I am very pleased with the initial quality of this package…overall a really good value. I seriously would recommend this kit to anyone who likes to treat their ride special. Former detailer, but I bought it just for my little classic. Sure is much less expensive than a paint job. Way to go Chemical Guys!

4.0 de 5 estrellas Great budget polisher for any beginner.
I’m by no means a professional and probably classified as a novice detailer at best…. but this thing has made me extremely happy with the 11 year old paint on my Porsche. Paint was in heavy need of a paint correction and decided to try and tackle the project myself. Spent the weekend on it and it came out phenomenal. I used the supplied pads along with some extras I had bought. I did a very light wet sanding on some trouble areas and then proceeded to compound with 3M. The tool does not have the speed or cutting power you need to do the job fast, but if you take your time with it, it will get you decent results. As I said, I spent pretty much all weekend on the car which is pretty small (2 door coupe). After compounding was complete I moved onto polishing every square inch to a very very fine uniform haze. I then wiped clean with fresh high quality microfibers and did the “four fold” method, retiring towels as they became contaminated with product. Once all areas were clean of polish, I then used ERASER to further remove any and all residue and oils from the paint. I then used the tool to a fine applicator pad to apply a nice coat of Chemical Guys Jet sealer. The product instructed to leave on paint for 20 minutes, but I let it sit overnight. After buffing the sealant off with fresh microfibers using the 4 fold method, I then inspected all and was very satisfied with the shine and deep luster. I then used a new applicator pad to apply the first coat of Chemical Guys butter wax. After buffing clean, I then applied a second coat. The end result is something that I can live with for the summer, but admittedly will need to go in again when the car is down and not being used for a fresh start, further compunding and polishing of select trouble areas, and ultimately a final ceramic coating. The tool works great if you have patience. Also will come in VERY handy for quick touch ups here and there. For a professional, obviously this would not be adequate enough to efficiently correct and complete multiple cars, but as I said, I am no professional, and I doubt any of the people looking at this product is on the level of Kevin Brown or the like.

4.0 de 5 estrellas Excellent value for the money
I did touch-up work with a spray-can clear coat, which left half the body of my ride with shades and roughness even though I covered half the body with masking paper (spray mist finds every tiny space to pass through). I then sanded with 3M Trizact 3000 and 5000 only to get hologram. Did a bit of research and ended up getting this kit.The kit contains everything EXCEPT polishing compound, so I bought a V36 & V38 combo. I watched x2 vids by CG before starting as I am a beginner in detailing. It took me a day to get the hang of using the dual action polisher. The biggest challenge was how much pressure to add, and the Asian guy (I’m an Asian too so no racial bias meant) in one of the CG’s vids explained it as “push just enough to hear the change in the motor sound”. This was a great tip.For a DIYer, this kit is of a great value for the money. Everything except the polisher is made in the USA (the polisher is probably made in China; no country of origin was noted on the label). I only used the orange & white pads, and after 2 days of experimenting & learning, all holograms were gone and my 2004 TL (G516P) now looks shiny. It is not possible to remove 100% of micro swirl or take care of heavily weathered paint, but the result is more than satisfactory. There are 2 minuses, however. You need a household power and the polisher is LOUD at full speed, loud enough to irritate your neighbors (like chain saw). Ideally, this should be done in an enclosed & clean garage but I did this under direct sun light at 80F; not recommended. If you are serious about your ride and tired of paying hundreds of $$$ for a professional or additional scratches/damage by careless professionals, grab this kit and CG’s V36 & V38 compound. Again, if you are a beginner like me, be sure to watch CG’s vids a few times before starting and wear hearing protection. BTW, the kit comes with a spare brush kit for the motor.

5.0 de 5 estrellas Restore your car’s finish
I purchased this to see if I could get some scratches and swirl marks out of my wife’s car. Let me say that this works amazingly well. Her car is black and it had some swirl marks in the paint from going through the car wash as well as some scratches on the rear quarter panels from a bush that ran out in front of her (that’s her story and she’s sticking to it).I first washed, dried and then used a clay bar to remove any contaminants from the paint. Next, I used the V34 on the scratches and the heavier swirl marks. I then did the whole car with the V36 and then the V38. I finished the car with a ceramic coating and was absolutely amazed at how good her car looked. The paint looked even better than it did when she purchased the car and feels smoother than glass. The Torx Random Orbital polisher is not exactly light. I was exhausted by the end of the day from using this thing on an SUV but, it was much easier and quicker to use than doing it all by hand. Also, this is light years ahead of the old fashioned orbital buffer/polishers. Being able to start out with a low RPM also meant that I wasn’t slinging compounds all over my car and garage. I really wish that I had taken some before and after pics because the difference is astounding.

The pads are decent, and so are the micro fiber towels. Oh and the pad cleaner works very good so that’s where the 2 stars all comes from. The polisher has alot to be desired. I understand that an random orbital is probably pretty good for some things but what a joke this one is. It doesn’t have a low enough rpm at start so you need to be ready for that. It beats the crap out of what ever car panel you may be working on as well as you. No extra side handle to help control the polisher so that sucked. Luckily i had one that fit. The on off switch is just that on or off. A trigger assembly would be much better. For me the speed control is in a bad spot because as you move your hand to counter act the massive vibration from the random orbital action you tend to increase the speed. Chemical guys stuff is usually pretty decect and i jumped at the price point when i came across the kit. That was a mistake, i should just have gone with my instinct and bought another rotary polisher. If i could return it i would even for a partial refund. Its in perfect condition still cant even tell ive used it. I’ve tried 3 times now just to see, and every time its a joke. I. Sure it will be an excelly DA sander when the time co.es for home improvements but as for use on the car, no chance. Time to buy another polisher unfortunately. Id say spend the money on the Makita polisher, well worth it if your looking.

5.0 de 5 estrellas ANY skill level can use this to maintain your vehicles!! Must have in your garage.
Waxing a car is one thing and machine polishing/cutting has been intimidating not fully knowing how and messing up paint of any my vehicles till now. My truck was hit in an intersection after insurance part then getting into shop for them to document damage they gave me the go ahead to polish it since they are out four months to get it in. Product came as described, also bought the full sized set of four CG finish and cutting compound since this kit did not have it. There is another kit that has smaller sizes but NOT all the pads and that was key for my job at hand.Machine was easy to use, ergonomic, and pads attached with hook and loop. I recommend for first timers the CG have some great videos out there. Familiarize yourself and understand your top coat, using cutting compounds and why. Swirl marks and removal. If you have BLACK PAINT you best be very careful it’s the toughest out there!!!Overall you can see in the photos I attached before and after. I am ECSTATIC how well CG system worked following the process, working in shaded area, and taking your time.Highly recommend. I feel confident now to detail the entire truck and make it shine!!!! THANK YOU CHEMICAL GUYS! Customer for life!

4.0 de 5 estrellas Great Tool for Detailers!
I’m pretty picky about the cleanliness of my vehicle. I think it can say a lot about a person based on how they care for their belongings, especially their vehicle.I bought this as a way to fix some paint defects on my 2020 Forester, which is starting to show some wear and tear from daily use and harsh Wisconsin winters. I wanted to see if there was a reasonably priced way to achieve the results I wanted, especially considering I haven’t got much experience using tools like this. I’m happy to report that after a test run, I’m thrilled with the results and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Chemical Guys Torq polisher. After some research into how to use the polisher I was ready to give it a go. Some common sense and a few YouTube videos will go a long way towards getting good results.I began by washing my vehicle using a foam cannon for applying soap (Mr. Pink from Chemical Guys), along with an electric pressure washer. After thoroughly washing and drying, I removed any additional paint contaminants with a clay bar treatment.Again, preparation is key to doing this right. If you leave dirt or debris on your vehicle you’re asking for trouble using this polisher. The next step will be determining which cutting compound to use. The kit I got came with 4 trial sized bottles of the V line of products. They recommend choosing the lightest abrasive possible to achieve the results you want. Since my paint was fairly new and not in the worst shape, I chose V36 as a sort of in the middle option. I paired this with the supplied orange cutting pad as recommended. Another key step is making sure you use the pad lubricant which may have come with your kit. Simply spraying 3 spritzes before each application of compound worked well for me. Chemical guys recommended 4 to 5 dime sized drops on the pad, those drops being spread out evenly across the surface you’re working on for even coverage and preventing spatter. You can use the polisher on speed 1 to evenly spread the compound at this point. Once you’ve got sufficient coverage you can proceed. Using form pressure working in an overlapping manner, work the product onto the surface at speed 5 or 6 until the compound becomes translucent.Like I mentioned earlier I chose to use some lighter duty compound and decide if I need to use a stronger product after assessing the results. Short answer, I probably could have used the stronger stuff. But, as a beginner it was a good idea to follow the recommendations from Chemical Guys. For what’s its worth, I used about a 3rd of the small bottle on this project. On to the results: I’m impressed. All of the swirls and light scratches have been removed. Some deeper scratches will require more time to work out, but from what I’ve seen so far I don’t think it’ll be an issue. The black paint on my vehicle has insane depth and clarity after my first go using the torq, and I’d gladly spend the money on it again. My only complaints so far would be the lack of instructions included. You’ll want to do some research before you get to work, mainly to avoid damaging your paint. The pads are apparently an odd size according to some other reviewers, and while that makes ordering them slightly difficult, I’m not worried.I give this one a hearty yah.

4.0 de 5 estrellas Basic but limited
I was on the fence between buying a rotary or this DA buffer with many review sites saying rotary is dangerous and can damage paint. Not having much experience I decided the safe approach and pulled the trigger on this purchase. The good- super easy to use- ergonomic- turn on switch, no need to hold trigger down- gets light swirls and scratches out fantasticallyWhere I realized its heavy limitations was after I painted my motorcycle and the clear coat had orange peel. I experimented sanding down with 1500 and 2000 grit. I used the heaviest yellow foam pad and used meguiar scale 10, and 3d 500 series cutting compound. I tried also chemical guys V series compounds and polishers but the best result I got was shiny with visible scratch lines.I hooked up the same foam pad to my drill, using the same cutting compounds and lo and behold, the result was amazing. What I realized is that this tool is meant for basic light scratches, but if you are doing more serious paint corrections it doesn’t generate enough spin or heat for the product to really do its magic. Had I to choose it all over again I would have probably bought their rotary model. Honestly I think this scare of damage is overblown. If you are clueless then this one is safe. If you are handy, patient, observant and test areas then I would suggest go with a more capable tool lest you get stuck to buy another one because the tool you got has limits! Hope this helps

3.0 de 5 estrellas Great polisher, mediocre pads and polish.
I bought this product as part of a complete paint correction project for my car. I have a 2012 Race Red Boss 302 which has been through hundreds, if not thousands, of washes which left it with swirls and scuffs all over the clearcoat. After washing and clay barring the car, I was ready for the polishing phase.I began on the hood, moved to the roof, the trunk, and then the quarter panel using the hybrid polish and the orange pad. I was very happy with the results I was getting along the way. However, I frequently cleaned the pad throughout the process, but halfway through the quarter panel, the pad began adding more swirls than it was removing. Therefore, I used Dawn dish soap to thoroughly clean the pad, dried over the next day to use again the next evening. This didn’t fix the problem and it only got worse. I ordered two medium Rupes pads, one finishing pad, and a bottle of their cutting polish. I used the new medium Rupes pad with the Rupes polish and was astonished by the clarity improvement over The Chemical Guys. I started over on the hood and did the entirety of my car without issue using the Rupes pads and polish.I’m a Chemical Guy’s fan, so in their defense, I’m very particular about my car and their product worked very well. If it hadn’t been for the pad failing, and a friend’s recommendation to grab the Rupes product, then I would’ve never known it could’ve been so much better. I gave it 3 stars because I did not make use of the polish or pads due to the medium pad failure. If you choose to go this route I would recommend buying extra pads. I did buy two Rupes pads to prevent this from happening again and I switched them out halfway even though the first pad was still performing well.

Honest Review –
3.0 de 5 estrellas DA polisher is OK, could use some improvements. Compounds & polishes are not my favorite.
It’s ok. I find this to be very heavy, the switch could benefit from having an on/off indicator so when you plug it in you know if it’s on or off. You figure it out pretty fast, but still, how hard would it be to add that? The ergonomics are OK, but not terrific… and it’s pretty loud. I have a cheapo polisher that I honestly think works as well. The compounds & polishers are not terribly impressive – they seem to leave a haze behind compared to my other “name brand” versions. The bottles are hard to squeeze too (I found storing them upside down helps). The pads seem fine and overall, this tool does the job, but for the money I expected a little more – oh, and no storage case of any kind, just the box it comes in.This is not a bad tool, perse’, but you may want to shop around… you’ll have lots of options to consider at this price. I would not order the compounds & polishes again – I would stick with what I know.

5.0 de 5 estrellas Very Durable
First use with the TorqueX I ran a cut pass then a polish pass. Took me a total of 6 hours. This machine did not overheat, like my previous NO NAME brand, with very little vibration. You’re going to experience vibration with any polisher but this machine was definitely smoother. The one frustrating element about polishing is the longevity and durability of polishing pads. I’ve used them all and none are better than the other. Don’t be fooled…just purchase more pads and swap them out when you start to see foam from the pad slinging around.

Great tool and comes with everything you need to work on your car’s paint finish.I bought a couple more supplies so I could clean up my headlights. They needed to be sanded with 1 & 2K grit sandpaper which wasn’t part of kit. The various compounds that did come with it worked fantastic after I sanded my lenses. They also worked great cleaning up my paint swirls. The tool’s a little heavy, so your arms will hurt some if you use it to do a large car like my Avalon. Just pace yourself. The compounds supplied should be considered samples at best. They do work great, so they’re probably included so you buy more.

5.0 de 5 estrellas It’s All About the Bundle
I almost never write reviews. OK, so I was clay bar-ing, hand polishing and hand waxing my wife’s car, and my pickup was next in line. About 15 minutes into polishing, my right shoulder began to ache…just like it always does at some point in these processes. I’m an old man. I started looking into machine buffers on Amazon, and came across this item (but at $163.79!). Knowing very little about pads, I was really impressed by the bundle here…5 different pads, a super-flexible 5″ backing plate, and pad cleaner and pad conditioner (lubricant). It just seemed like everything I needed to get started (except compound and wax, which I already had). Upon arrival, the first thing I did was use the kit to remove swirls and water spots from my black pickup. The TorqX and supplies were very easy to use, and performed very well. The results to me were spectacular. After cleaning as directed, the pads I used showed absolutely no signs of wear and are ready to go again. I would highly recommend this kit. I note however that at its current $200.00 price point there are IMHO more attractive kits available out there. Chemical Guys need to put their bundling hats back on and sweeted this deal some, as I suspect more people will be drawn to the Porter-Cable kit. How about some one or two car size samples of some othe Chemical Guys products tossed in?

5.0 de 5 estrellas A bit of money but worth the cost.
Polishing a video is not for the faint of heart. Be ready to work hard. Its along process from washing the vehicle to drying, then the different steps the system has depending on the paint condition. So make sure you separate a whole day for this project. Its crucial that you follow the instructions. The liquid for the pads to keep them cool are essential. Id say follow their Chemical Guys YouTube videos closely. Yes I was very satisfied. Make sure you do this in the shade. If its too hot outside make sure you have plenty of water since it is really a slow process that is quite a workout.

2.0 de 5 estrellas Overpriced. Polisher broke with less than 12hrs of use
I bought this set to buff and polish a small, 20ft boat. It worked great the first year, and took me about 6 hours or so with multiple passes. Next year, I get halfway through the boat and the polisher breaks internally and is not usable. (Burning rubber and oil smells, polisher extremely off balance.)Chemical guys said there was nothing they could do because it was 2 months out of warranty. It failed with less than 12 hours of use.I ended up getting a cheapo polisher to finish the job and guess what..it works just as good as the overpriced, overhyped Chemical guys polisher. CG’s marketing is great, which is what you are paying for. I should have known better. Don’t get duped like I did, by a different brand.

5.0 de 5 estrellas Quality Product
So far I’ve only applied a layer of butter wet wax with the orbital but it definitely made a difference. This is my first orbital polisher but I’m definitely glad I purchased this particular one. The towels that come with it are great and the lubricant is a must have for removing swirl marks and paint correction. The citrus pad cleaner is a nice touch as well, it makes the pads near new with a bit of warm water. I always do a ton of research before a make a big purchase. This definitely wasn’t the cheapest kit I found but I felt it was the most bang for my buck. It has a good warranty and it also feels well built. It has plenty of weight to it so you don’t have to use elbow grease to push down, just let the weight of the machine do the work. Nothing beats a random orbital sander, especially for a beginner such as myself. You really can’t damage your paint with this buffer unless you left it in one spot for several minutes but why would you do such a thing anyway. I do highly recommend this product.

5.0 de 5 estrellas V32 is a miracle worker.
So far I’ve used them all on different vehicles with different conditions. I used the 36 on my bike, 34 on my wife’s car, and just recently 32 on her mother’s ride. The pic is of her mother’s car. I had already foamed/pressure washed and clay/detail. In this pic, if you look closely, you can see the polished portioned done with V32 vs not polished. Huge difference. The whole car was like the unpolished portion although it was “clean”. I followed up with V38 instead of working through them all. After that, I used the butter wax, followed by jet seal. All in all, the job took HOURS, but omg it was worth it. She nearly cried in disbelief. It was that serious. I was actually enjoing myself, so much that this will probably become a hobby…or a business. So satisfying. Looked like a brand new car off the lot. V32 is far better than 34/36 if you want a deep polish. At first I was a little hesitant as it much more abrasive than the other polishes, but her paint was a little older and broken in with many micro scratches. This won’t take away the scratches, but the paint will be so brilliant that you would have to actually have to try to find the scratches unless they’re really really deep. I didn’t realize how great her paint job actually was up underneath the neglect. Could see the flakes perfectly and the mirror finish. But now I wish I would’ve used it on my wife’s car. When I finished her mom’s, the paint was unbelievable. It was like right in your face. And that was before applying the butter wax, which is glorious by the way. Absolutely glorious. Jet seal is great if you want a dealership shine and seal, but butter wax is glorious. If you do the seal, let it bond, then add butter wax the next day.I think the second pic is after the polishing. It was dark by the time I started waxing. The car was as smooth as silk at the end. She was tripping out just by touching the handle to open the door. Great product. Oh and the tool is excellent as well.

5.0 de 5 estrellas AMAZING!!!!! Miracle product
I tried taking before and after pictures. They just do not do it justice!!! Worth every penny!!! My SUV is 14 years old. It’s not beat up by any means but has been used. I had a temporary tarp carport that did It’s job, initially. The wind got a hold of it and did a number on the paint job. The front and back looked hazy from the beating it took. I started with a small area in the back and worked my way through each compound. When I finished (before waxing) I could not believe how good the paint job looked!!!!!! There are a couple places with scratches that are almost undetectable now. In my case, it took a little time to work through the four compounds but the results were absolutely worth it. The smell of the polishing pad lubricant was pleasant. The polishing pad cleaner REALLY good. It didn’t take much to get the pads looking brand new. I was worried, especially with the white pad. It’s bright white again!I am a Chemical Guys Fan!! One reason I took a chance on this detailing kit was how well their carpet and upholstery cleaner worked. I had some stains where other products did nothing. Not the Chemical Guys! Took the stain out!!!

This polisher works great. Plenty of power and easy to use. Had bought another off brand one and it is night and day difference between the two. The Chemical Guys machine is wonderful.

My first go at this and the results are great! I also got the 4 pack CG cut and polish set and went through the steps using the pads as directed. My car has been neglected for several years and the paint looked aweful and the hood is covered in chips from highway driving.Check out the before and after pics!I can’t wait to finish the rest of the car. I should’ve done this years ago.The kit is great although would’ve been better if they provided the sample size polishes as well, although the price was fair as is.The machine itself is less than comfortable to hold as there’s no rear contour for you hand and as another review states, the speed control IS easily adjusted by the palm of your hand while in use. However, the quality is there and it works very well. Also, the two base pads (soft and hard) and the five 5” foam pads seem to be high quality and the pad cleaner spray and conditioner spray get a thumbs up too.

5.0 de 5 estrellas Great for anyone! Long review and detailing instructions. *UPDATE*
This is a great polisher/buffer for anyone. It is one of the few products where it is extremely user friendly. This polisher/buffer (everyone calls it something different) lets a weekend warrior have the ability to look like a professional. This package comes with everything you see in the picture. The polisher/buffer, a 4 pack of sale compounds and polishes (4 oz), and 3 pads. This is a complete system that gives you the ability to fix most car imperfections. But it is not a miricale worker. You have to put in the time and have the correct technique to get great results. Even then there are some things you will not be able to correct. So before you think “I don’t want to buy this cause someone said it didn’t work”, realize that there are limitations to any paint corrections. I will talk about it again in a little bit. But first back to the review. The unit itself is built very well. It is a very sturdy and well balanced machine. “What does he mean by well balanced?” What I’m referring to is that, even on the lowest setting, you can handle this machine with one hand. The pads are hook and loop (velcro) and are 5.5″. This is somewhat an odd size that puts you in a situation where you have to find them online most of the time. But to be honest is is a happy medium. Each pad has their own uses. You need to make sure you are using the right one for each situation. The compounds are from Chemical Guys based out of California. Their products are probably some of the best that I have ever used. They are very user friendly and have a great smell. Yes I said great smell. If you are going to compound or polish your car its nice to have something that has a pleasant scent. So if you have read it this far and know how to compound or polish a car that’s all that I have. Those of you who don’t know what to do can read on if you want. This is a small tutorial and list of products you will need in order to get great results.1: Wash your car. This is the starting point to any body work. You should use only microfiber. *DO NOT USE TERRY CLOTHS OR HOUSEHOLD RAGS* These rags will hurt your paint and cause small scratches.2: Clay BarGet your favorite clay bar and clay your paint and glass. Periodically fold the clay over and knead it to get a clean/fresh side. Use a clay bar lube or quick detailer spray. Do small sections at a time and wipe off excess product when complete.3:IPAMix Isopropyl Alcohol and distilled water in a spray bottle (I would research to see what you are comfortable with). This will strip any wax, clay bar, or sealant that remains on the vehicle.4: Determine the work you need to do.Many people jump into this with a all or nothing attitude. What need to do is look at all of the scratches, water spots, bird dropings, and any other imperfections. From there you need to determine what is the minimum that can be used to take out the scratches. If you have a lot of paint correction with deepnscratches you should compound. If it is just water spot with a few scratches then you need to polish. This step, though, is to determine what you need to use.5:Compound/PolishCompound is more abrasive than Polish. With this in mind, depending on what you determined in the previous step, start with the least aggressive to get the job done. If it doesn’t work to get all imperfections out then move up in the compounds (like 36 to a 38 in this kit). Once you get all the imperfections out that you can then move down to a polish and polish the entire vehicle.6: Apply a sealant.I used Jet Seal recently. I personally like it. A sealant basically protects you paint from contaminate like water spots, dirt, and bird droppings. Jet seal also make your paint surface hydrophobic which is pretty nice.7: Apply your favorite wax.You can use whatever wax you want. I personally like using a liquid wax. A liquid wax can be spread with a polisher with the correct pad. We are here to work smarter not harder. That’s all there is to it really. Just note that not all imperfections will come out. On a neglected paint job I would expect to get out about 90% of the imperfections. Then there are some things that you can not remove with the products in this package. Deep scratches that are into the color coat or show metal will not come out with these products. Orange peel is another imperfection that you can not buff out completely. These two types of imperfections will either need to be wet sanded or the panel will have to be repainted.Do your research. Look up different techniques if you would like. But once you feel comfortable with what you know, compounding and polishing is easy. And this kit gives you nearly everything you need.*Tip* use a permenant marker to put a line on the backing paint. This will allow you to see if it is free spinning on the paint or not.**Update**I have used these 4oz bottles on 2 vehicles now and I still have product. These foam pads are great but I would invest in more if you can. These pads are great for the do it yourselfer but if you want to use these for a commercial purpose then you should get more pads. I have used my orange pad quite a bit as it is the one I use to get out most of the deep scratches. Honestly, if you were to get a better cutting pad you would be better off.The machine itself is still in great condition and I have not regreted buying this one bit.Update 06/13/21:… well I used this kit several times and loved using it. I say “loved” because someone broke into my garage and decided they wanted to take it. I used if for 5 years and have bought different compounds and pads. It held up very well and I still highly recommend it. Chemical guys products are still by far the best products to work with and I highly recommend them.

4.0 de 5 estrellas Works well, but the 4oz bottles of various polish is too small for the price
The orbital polisher is good quality. I have about 3-4 hours of use on it so far. Pads and rags are good quality. The 4oz bottles of polish is way too small. I’d personally recommend buying this kit without the polish and then going with either the 16oz Chemical Guys polish or Meguiars polish.

5.0 de 5 estrellas Worked much better than I hoped!
I was really impressed with this machine. It worked a whole lot better than scrubbing orange peel out by hand. The speed was easy to control and hardly any vibration. It did a lot better job buffing the imperfections than I thought it might. It made the total disaster I thought that I had much smoother and like you would see a professional do. I did make a mistake of sanding a little too deep by hand, which I couldn’t get out by buffing, but this made it much less noticeable. And because of my mistake with the sanding, I of course don’t fault the machine. Beginner’s shouldn’t do paint if you are expecting perfection.

5.0 de 5 estrellas This was a great kit !
I am no amatuer at cut and buff. I needed a new DA and this was reasonable. I will keep this short and tell you the pro’s and consProsMachine is nice and definately responsive and good orbital throwLOVE the pad cleaning soloution (wrote a review)The pad prep is nice tooThe pads are “ok” , half between pro and conthe 4 step cut and polish bottle are awesome – I have NOT liked any of the new 3-1 stuff and have tried winding up back to 3M 1,2,3 – Tried these and I was impresssed – especially the final finish (check teh picture – single stage black, sanded to 5000 grit first then polished to perfection)ConsWish the machine was trigger pull instead of on off but it does slow start (not instant revs) – not really a con, just a wishThe pads like I said are “ok” but I really like another brand better but quite usable

5.0 de 5 estrellas I might just change jobs
I could become a professional retailer with this kit.I took it for a spin; the product is impressive. I used the OG clay to scrub the dirt, then 36, 34/32 in some spots, and finally 38 to finish it. The pictures speak for the product; it’s well worth the investment, and it’s absolutely of quality.

2.0 de 5 estrellas Buffer ok but comounds and polishes don’t work
Overall I could not get any results using the compounds and polishes provided. the amount provided is also a sample kit, not nearly enough to do an actual car. Changed to 3m products and now paint looks great.Buffer is ok, nice size, good balance but the on/off switch at the back it awkward. I prefer a trigger switch like on the Milwaukee buffers.

2.0 de 5 estrellas READ FOR ALL YOUR ANSWERS!
First the pros:The machine is easy to use for a beginner. It is well weighted. With a little extra work it does a solid job (see pic)I wish I had done enough research before buying this but as I ran into problems I started checking detailer forums and figured out why it was so much work to get good results. You haven’t made the purchase yet so I will pass on everything you need to know about this kit:The “V series” polish and compounds it comes with are total garbage. Do a quick Google search, every pro detailer will tell you to literally throw them out and get the tried and true beginner set (meguires 105 and 205). One is a cut and the other is a polish and you can do everything you need to with those two products. I scooped them up and the difference was night and day. They just work. The pads are ok. Lake County is the best and they sell them for less than Chemical guys. The ones that come with the kit will get you through but mine are already falling apart and now that I have the Lake County ones I don’t use the originals. Lake County has 6 packs on amazon for ~32 bucks, 3 orange for cutting and 3 white for polishing which are the only two you will need for paint correction. They only include one of each of those colors in this kit which means you need to be cleaning them constantly to get through a car. The rest that they include are for applying wax.The machine itself has some major fundamental issues. It stalls out so you have to have it above the recommended max speed to use it. If you don’t it stops spinning so you are just vibrating your car. If you want to give your ride a sensual massage scoop this up. If you want a great polisher for the same price get the Griots Garage G9.The microfiber cloths it comes with have tags sewn in them. You need to carefully pull them out so you don’t re-scratch your car as you remove the polish. Otherwise they are acceptable. If you want good ones check out the rag company. The pad conditioner and cleaner work but detailers use detail spray (ONR is great) for conditioner and car shampoo (Adam’s is amazing) for cleaner with the same results and just a few cents in cost.If I knew then what I do now I would buy everything I recommended and stay away from Chemical guys in general. They over market and under perform. If I help one person buy the right gear and avoid disappointment this long review has been worth it.

Really happy with product but the only annoying thing is where the speed control was placed tends to be moved when your moving the buffer around so you tend to move the speed settings. To solve the issue you need to place a piece of tape so the setting won’t be moved.

5.0 de 5 estrellas Just amazed!
I recently bought a 2010 Tacoma, nice shape but I’m sure it’s never been washed, let alone waxed. The paint was very faded. I got this polisher mostly out of curiosity, didn’t have high hopes. It is incredible! Watched a bunch of how to videos, and was nervous starting, but very straightforward. I’d give it more stars if I could.

5.0 de 5 estrellas Rubbing out wood varnish furniture finish
I found this to be a really solidly built tool for wood furniture finishing. It has some weight (good thing when you’re trying to get a smooth finish). It has zero wobble. It ramps speeds smoothly. The pads are decent, although I needed to replace them every couple chairs. It didn’t produce any sanding circles, when used with the fine grade compounds I mention below.I used it to create an ultra high gloss finish on adirondack chairs made of ipe (Brazilian walnut) and finished in Man-o-War glossy marine spar varnish. Before starting with the buffer, I applied16 coats of varnish which gives a thick base but inevitably has brush strokes, which I removed by sanded progressively with 320, 400, 600, 1000, 1500 grit. Then I used “3M finesse-it polish finishing material 81235” with the Torqx buffer and a white buffer pad. I finished with the “3M finesse-it polish ultra fine 28696” with a red pad. I was able to get a really smooth satin finish, which I could have stopped there. To get the ultra glossy look, I wiped on a final coat of 50:50 varnish/mineral spirits by hand. The finish is so glossy you could read a book in the reflection. As a bonus, I found that the citrus cleaning compound (provided with this bundle for cleaning up the pads) actually worked really well to remove the white chalky sanding compound from the final wood pieces.

3.0 de 5 estrellas Product pairings take time to learn
I bought this kit but the so called Instruction Manual included left much to be desired. I had to do online research to figure out which chemical product paired with which buffer pad. You would think there would be a nice graphic illustration of how to pair the chemicals with the right pads and a description of how best to apply it with the buffer (e.g. what speed setting). But no.The “Instruction Manual” is 10 pages. The first 6 are devoted to usage warnings. There’s a small section that describes the operation of the ON/OFF switch. I mean, REALLY?? The rotational RPM is between 1200 and 4200. Nowhere does it map RPMs to the variable dial adjustment. There is an additional back plate that ships with the unit. It’s red and the one that is already attached is yellow. Is there a difference? It doesn’t say. The Manual actually does not even mention the additional backing plate. Four paragraphs describing the warranty. There are a handful of caveats to the warranty. One of them is “criminal activity”. WTF!? Who wrote this manual?Maybe Chemical Guys partners with the manufacturer of this orbital polisher and the product is a pass through sale in this kit. I’m not sure but there is enormous improvement they need to make in providing proper usage instructions in this kit.

5.0 de 5 estrellas This tool is Buff!
Perfect timing on this acquisition!I wrap cars. Trucks. Vans. Boats. Bikes. Anything with a good smooth surface. With vehicle prices out of control, more and more people are bringing me their peeling, mottled, rusting rides in the hopes of a new ‘paint job’ (wrap). With wrapping being an adhesive process, you’re wrapping to a surface, if that surface isn’t staying in place and coming up (ie clear coat), the wrap is going to be attached to chips of the coat and not the car.The polisher kit was almost the answer all on its own to a 2015 peeling Mazda. The car was used by my client to travel to meet with her clients, but she would ultimately park blocks away so she wouldn’t be seen driving the car (yes, it looked that bad).Nice rotating/vibrating no swirl torqued polishing after slapping on 1000 grit sand paper (separate purchase). Easy to access the roof with its lighter form, but weighty enough to know there’s substance behind the tool. Pads and appropriate compounds finished off the job, just in time to wrap the car…They always say “Happy client, happy life.” (my version)
