I bought this buffer/polisher to do paint correction and buffing on my 2004 Corvette Z06. It’s 18 years old and the paint was in really bad need of paint correction. I paired the buffer with Chemical Guys pads and Chemical Guys Ultimate compound, and the results are truly amazing. The oxidation, stains, dullness and scratches have disappeared, leaving an amazing shine. After doing the paint correction, I applied polish with the buffer, and now the paint on the car shines like a diamond. Yes, the buffer is pricey, but it is absolutely worth the money. Pairing the buffer with the correct pads and chemicals has brought the paint back to life on my ‘Vette. The controls on the buffer are easy to use and offer a variety of speeds to meet your needs. The cord is reasonably long, but an appropriate gauge extension cord was necessary for me to reach all areas of my car from the outlets in my garage. The buffer definitely has some heft to it and appears to be very well made. This buffer is definitely 10 steps above any buffer you will get from Harbor Freight, and this is a case where you definitely get what you pay for.

There are a lot of people who go deep into the wormhole of how to get the perfect paint. Correction, shine, finish out of their car. I am not one of those people. I do have an eye for paint with swirl marks. That definitely annoys me. I have done my own paint correction on a few of my cars and have been very happy with the results. This product comes with numerous different pads and I have found that the use of this machine and the results have been excellent for me.

Surprisingly good. I wish I had gotten it sooner. It’s much higher quality than I suspected. Includes spare motor brushes which is a nice touch.The result on my black vehicle are remarkable.The digital display is neat but a simple dial would be more straight forward. The speed control uses +- buttons.Revisit 4/2020I’ve spent a few more hours with the tool since I last wrote and my rating remains at 4 stars. The machine still feels solid, still runs as advertised, and I’m happy with the results.As I stated before the speed control is its weakest feature. The tiny buttons are not only difficult to find while running the machine, but they don’t even seem to be in the right location. Often the speed changes when I don’t want it to, yet I still have to look where the buttons are when I do want to change speed. I also have to change my grip to find the buttons. It’s also strange that the speeds go from 0,15,20,25,30,35,40 and stops. Why not to 9 or 10? It’s not a show stopper and may even have a reason (Perhaps its max speed is the same as speed 4 on a more powerful machine? I figure the numbers are arbitrary and not RPMs x 10 [if it is they really should sell that])The machine also seems to get warm. I have not seen a problem due to it getting warm and don’t have many different polishers to compare it to. So it’s probably fine…. and likely will be why it will eventually fail when it does.

This was my first Orbital Polisher purchase and I still use it. It’s a great piece of equipment and the bundle comes with everything you need to get started. Don’t expect to be able to complete an entire car with the products provided, they are small.

I detailed cars in high school and college back when a setup like this would have been well over $1k, so I’m pretty easy to please at this point after years of hand polishing and buffing cars.Chemical Guys just does everything right.The mix of products they provide with this kit is great to tackle all but the most complex paint situations.I used them on my wife’s 2017 Toyota Sequoia that’s black and had a number of swirl marks and a few scratches. This kit got all the swirl marks handled with ease and reduced some of the scratches, too.The machine is super nice and I’m sure will last quite a long time since I am not using it daily in a high volume commercial environment.

HUGE THANKS to the Chemical Guys! Wicked products! The Sequoia is almost 8yrs old with 125K miles on it. The paint has been fading and oxidizing badly over the past few years. Its washed regularly, and has been detailed several times. Each detailer the past few years has stated that the paint is gone and the truck would need to be painted in order to restore that shine and new car look. So a few months ago, I purchased the TORQ Tool Company BUF501X 10FX Kit as well as following products:- Chemical Guys GAP_VKIT_16 V Line Polish and Compound Kit (16 oz) (V32, 34, 36 and V38)- Chemical Guys BUF_301_16 Polishing and Buffing Pad Conditioner- Chemical Guys SPI_109_16 Leather Cleaner and Conditioner Complete Leather Care Kit- Chemical Guys WAC_201_16 Butter Wet Wax (16 oz)It was a LONG 2 days, but the results speak for themselves. Washed the car with water only, then started in on it. Started with the V32, then V36, then V38, followed by the Butter Wet Wax.Below are some before and after pictures of the door (Oxidized VS Finished) and the second… Is the difference just between the V38 and Butter Wet Wax steps. You can see how much clearer the reflections are. Amazing.Next up was the Leather… WOW, night and day difference. The seats were last cleaned about 8mo ago (expensive name brand from auto parts store)… they have never been this clean!The hood photo… well, the hood was oxidized worst of all and now you can clearly see cloud reflections!!THANKS Chemical Guys! #customerforlife #lookslikenew

To be honest I have nothing to compare it to. It’s the only polisher I’ve used. But sure does a great job. Easy to use, even for a beginner. The sample compounds/polishes are enough to try do 3+ cars. And have great results. The pads work great but after two jobs have stared to separate from their “Velcro” back.UPDATE: I am happy with most of this set. the only issue is the second, more flexible backing plate has been destroyed with the first use. The foam has torn from the harder backing plate. Really not happy about the quality of this. Makes me question the other parts.

Great polisher, powerful, mostly metal and its heavy.This unit is made to prevent you from destroying you paint, use it like a chainsawSo increase the speed before you push down too much, or it will stop spinning.Great results with meguires Polish which gets water spots out that no other product can.Put p21 wax on with it and the shine was amazing . You can apply wax to your whole car in20 min removal depends on the wax.Bought the kit which is why I got this over the meguires . For 30 extra you get 3 hex logicPads orange cutting white polishing and black finishing (wax app), 2 backing plates and4 sample products, meguires will run you 80 for this and I think this machine is better made.

The buffer is awesome, and very quality! It does a fantastic job, and is very powerful yet gentle as it took of none of the flaking paint but removed all oxidized paint. The only disappointment was the red flexible backing plate, after one use is developed a tear in the foam where it meets to black mounting plate. Idk if this is common or if these backing plates have a short work life. The that the plate on its own is like 25 dollars makes me think i just got unlucky and poorly cured foam!

Seems like a solid product, you pay a lot but you get a lot of “stuff”. There are several backing pads included, but no instructions on A.) what they are for and B.) how to install them. There’s also some polishing samples from Chemical Guys, but no information on what their specific use. Overall, the machine with included polishing pads performed well on my car.

The power switch is NOT a trigger but a very hard to move slide switch going left to right on the top. It would be hard to shut it off quickly plus it hurts my thumb and a pain to have to restart the speed setting every time you turn it on as the digital speed switch has no memory and goes back to zero. I did not use it only plugged it in to see if it worked. The manual also is not good with diagram mislabled and poor instructions. To me a bad design making the job harder.

Very easy to handle and doesn’t take off like an orbital. It’s easy to control and has great powered settings. I have used this now a few times with different size pads and applied polishing compounds, sealants and wax. This tool is a game changer. I would recommend this to anyone who is hesitant or afraid. There’s nothing to worry about its made to be user friendly. If you accidentally lift one side and are in danger of burning the paint is has a feature to keep from rotating at a damaging speed.

I bought this kit (Torq10fx + acc) some time ago and used it basically one time. I was never impressed with the sound or feel of the unit. So it went on the shelf, yesterday I was hand apply some glaze and got tired of that quickly.I thought I’d give it a second try, and while it is functional, it truly sounds like s***/gravel.I’m going to tear the head apart and see what I find. Dry? Bearings in pieces? Who knows, but bottom line is that for the money I spent on this, I certainly haven’t gotten any value out of it. If the inspection reveals anything telling, I’ll update with pictures.Not recommended!EDIT: After some disassembly, I found the nut holding the pinion nearly off the end of the shaft and the pinion floating on the shaft. I can only assume that this isn’t correct. See attached picture.

Ill make this a simple review. There was cleaning your care before the TORQ then there was detailing your car after TORQ Orbital Polisher. Straight up this takes your detail game to a whole new level. You got swirl marks? BOOM GONE You need that perfect wax applicator ? BOOM This Orbital Polisher in conjunction with the correct waxes and such work wonders. I went back and forth for over 2 months before I bought this because I just couldnt justify buying a machine that “details” cars. I always thought I could achieve automotive detail nirvana with just product and a microfiber towel. NOOOPEE. You need this. If you want you car to look like it was on the cover of a hotrod magazine. This is for you. As far as easy of use, it doesn’t not have any discomfort or crazy vibrating making you hand numb. It is smooth and despite its shape and weight, it is very well balanced so you dont get tired holding it.

It is worth it to spend the extra money to upgrade to the 10FX over the standard just for the more ergonomic rear handle. I’ve been detailing cars for over 15yrs. I’ve always used cheap $20-$30 buffers from Advance Auto and I can get great paint correction results, but it takes a long time. The power of this buffer easily cuts my time down to 1/3 of what it normally takes. The photo I posted is my first test on my father’s 14 yr old Tacoma that has spent a lot of its life going in and out of the woods getting scratched by tree branches. I only had to use the medium cut pad with the V32 cutting compound to take the paint back to nearly showroom quality.

I use this with the Chemical Guys products and found it super easy to use for a beginner. Functions without issues and leaves no swirls behind. Gentle enough for a classic car paint and strong enough to cut scratches in the clear coat of the daily driver car. Only downfall I experienced was after running the unit at the highest setting, the motor/electrical brushed bcme hot – not too hot that you can’t continue to tune but I didn’t want to damage the until so I took small breaks to let it cool down. This did not affect the units performance. Very happy with the product, decided it was the right unit for me over the Meguire’s DA buffer after watching numerous You Tube videos.

Purchased this polisher after going back and forth between this and the PC kit. I was told both machines were nice but the Torq had less vibration and was more robust feeling with power to get the job done. The 501X kit added all the necessary tools to accomplish my goals, so it made it a no brainer. I used this on my ’14 WRX that looked like it was in a fight with Spiderman. The swirl marks were pretty deep due to the automatic car washes. After using this kit my I was blown away. The car had a mirror like finish. The results were on par with what I expected. Hand washed and clay barred, I started with V32 on the Orange pad to cut the sun fade and car wash scratches, then moved to 38 on the white pad where I really saw the difference. That final step V38 polish is really the stage where you see if it’s making a difference. I finished with JetSeal and then a double coat of wax.

What a great product!! After not being completely satisfied with the outcome of my work using a PC 7424 I decided to so a little research and look into the newer DO, let me tell you that I took the plunge and bought this piece of equipment and I couldn’t be happier. Not only does it not vibrate at all as opposed to my 7424 but it distributes product a lot more efficiently. It makes working on vehicles at least 33% faster with much better results and with almost half the product used. I’m not sure if my PC was on its way out, but at speed six it would vibrate too much scattering product all over the place. I redid some areas where the PC was unable to correct scratches and the Torq cleared them very easily with minimal product remaning on the pad. Not only that but it’s also a lot quieter which makes the job that more enjoyable. For the price I don’t think the Torq can be beat!! Highly recommend!!

After watching several videos and reading reviews on several different DA Polishers I went with the Torq 10FX Package from Chemical Guys. I just used this machine and I’m Very pleased with it. It has little vibration and very easy to use. It feels heavy until you actually put it to use, the balance and weight let you use it without having to use much downward pressure. I started with the V36 and them went to the V38 and couldn’t believe the finish I achieved. My car had the typical scratches and swirls from prior poor washing from the previous owner. I spent about an hour on my hood and can’t wait to do the rest of my car. My car looks like it’s new ( probably better then new) and its 3 years old. I took some pictures of 50/50 with the left side polished and then the reflection of the finished hood. I would definitely recommend this product!

While this machine is loud and rather heavy for someone with weak arms to be weilding, it’s easy to use, intuitive, and effective, even for a complete amateur like me. I’d never even waxed a car before deciding to repair and recondition my husband’s severely neglected WRX before giving it to my daughter.The pictures are after one pass with V36 compound on the orange pad. I bumped it up to 34 and 32 for some areas, though. I was quoted 12k to repaint this car. I said no way and bought this and a bunch of other Chemical Guys products instead. I’m so glad I did! Really had no idea how easy this could be to do myself! After watching a veritable crapton of videos online, I’m goin’ for it. Thanks!

Updated Review: After about 5 weeks of ownership, I am changing my review to 3 stars. While polishing my camper, the machine had a noticeable change in pitch and began to heat up rapidly. After smelling the distinct aroma of a burning motor, I shut it down. 2 hours later, it was still slightly warm to the touch. I have since contacted Chemical Guys and was advised to return the unit (on my dime) where they told me a decision on warranty would be made. Hopefully I get a replacement/repair back as I only was able to complete 1/3 of my camper before it let all its smoke out and would like to finish before winter sets in.Initial Review: I’ve used this machine to apply sealant on my 3 vehicles and have also done some light correction to the bumper of one, also. Although I am a far way away from being a pro, I at least feel like one as all my results have turned out fantastic. The unit’s got some weight to it, so after my first vehicle, my wimpy noodles-for-arms were feeling it the next day; but other than that, I stinking love this machine!

Quality of the product is great – Pretty much everything you need to get your car looking amazing.Spend time and look at the YouTube videos well worth the time to figure out the line of products that are included.The one little complaint that I have is that there is no guide on the pads that need to be use and there is no bag to keep it safe/organized. I had to put it back in the cardboard box to keep it stored. For the price I would expect a little more.

Had made some stupid mistakes when repairing deep scratches on my car. Purchased the do-it-yourself primer/paint/clear coat and proceeded to make it look like porous poo. Alas, took a chance with this buffer/polisher. Followed the straightforward instructions and did just slightly worse than I’d expect the Maaco team to perform for $800 for just the fender. I think it’ll look even better when I go over it again. Yes, novice. Yes+Yes, would recommend this. Take your time and expect to put little elbow grease in, but well worth it. Solid tool. Could use a bit more compounds, so advise to buy little extra.

I like everything about this buffer. Chemical Guys probably should be charging more for this based on it’s quality, veracity, and available accessories. On my 7YO Mercedes-Ben: I used it for major/minor paint correction, ceramic coating correction, and head light restoration. On my 10YO safe: used it for paint correction. If your doing a touch, you’ll need additional compound. Pads are durable and can be used multiple times. Even After cleaning the pads, they retain some loose grit so run them on high to fling any loose grit out before using or consider using a fresh pad.

This kit is a great value for what you get. I was able to do a full two step correction on my Mazda with just the sample size bottles. Was able to remove some moderate/heavy oxidation from my clear coat. The DA polisher is smooth and didn’t vibrate too much or give me any hand pain. It worked exactly as described.

Update – 03/20/2022Contacted the Chemical Guys customer service department and Alex Mayo replied promptly, offering to repair or replace it after I sent a couple pics of it, a screenshot of my order and an address. Will update this review again after delivery.Purchased June, 2021Bought the BUF501X 10FX less than a year ago. I’m not a professional or anything – I used it to shine up the tank and fenders of my Harley twice, my work van (Astrovan – not full size) once and got about 1/3 of the way through polishing my gf’s 21′ boat before it stopped spinning under even the slightest pressure. If I turn it on and just set it down, it doesn’t spin. Just vibrates and makes noise. I wanted to step up from my really old Porter Cable DA sander and my startlingly loud Harbor Freight clunker (both of which have gone to battle as both polishers and sanders many times and for years) and this unit had great reviews and, considering the price, must have been highly regarded by the manufacturer…..I would estimate a total usage time of about 7 or 8 hours before it deuced the bed. I went to the Rupes Bigfoot and after a few months and close to the same usage time, I wouldn’t trade it for three of these Torq polishers. I will include this caveat though – their customer service might be the best in the history of earth. They might replace it with an even better, newer version and send a rep over to shower me with free bottles of polish and give me a lovely massage. I was too mad to even deal with it until now. So, as of today (March 14th, 2022) the last chapter of this spellbinding story has yet to be written. Stay tuned for what promises to be a breathtaking…..or heartbreaking conclusion.

Arrived in perfect condition. The thing I like about this one the most is that it’s a tad smaller and lighter weight than the Dewalt I borrowed from a friend to use. The diameter of the pads are also smaller than the Dewalt which makes it easier to negotiate corners without risk of over buffing an area trying to get in tight spaces. I also like this one better because the Dewalt’s center bolt where it connects the pad to the unit itself rubbed the paint off one of the corner panels when I tried to get a tight area buffed. I didn’t even need to use the additional grip peg that came with it because it’s so light and easy to hold with one hand or just use the top grip on the unit. The red bottle of V36 16 optical grade was the best for surface scratches or blemishes. I ordered a 16oz bottle for future uses since it comes with a small 4 oz bottle that is almost intended for one use or one car depending on its size.

I normally don’t write reviews but I felt compelled to review this polisher. It’s amazing! I have a car that had quite a bit of oxidation and water spots with pitting in the clear coat. I have tried to get them out with my older non DA polisher and it couldn’t do the job. I used this polisher with the supplied heavy cut compound and it made the car look new again! I then used the heavy polish then wax and I’m ecstatic about the results! This polisher is easy to use and the interchangeable pads make it very versatile. A must have if you’re particular about your car paint like me. I was hesitant to buy inititally because of the price but I couldn’t be happier now that I made the purchase!

I’m a beginner and it’s easy to use. Light to move around and easy to operate. I have used it on three of my cars and it has come out looking good every time! Just make sure to use a medium grade pad with whatever you use so you don’t burn the clear coat.

Not to please with the way the unit releases the Back Plate in which the Key Tool or the Key way opening is Wrong fit and very difficult to put tool in between shaft cap opening to take back plate off to replace with different size back plate; (3, 5 or 6in) Plates for Option Foam Pads…

I knew I either wanted this polisher or the 15mm long throw. I was very leery about making the purchase after reading all of the reviews but so far I am glad I decided to. The polisher is well balanced, not too heavy, and has very little vibration. It is not loud at all in my opinion and is very easy to use. With all of the reviews that claim a defective unit I would have bought an extended warranty through Amazon if I had been given the option but that was not available. It comes with a one year warranty according to chemical guys. So far I am very pleased with everything about this polisher.

This polisher is night and day superior to a 30 dollar orbital polisher. It runs so smooth it won’t beat you up using it. I also use a lot less product using this polisher. Im am a novice so just my 2 cents worth its definitely going to make polishing your cars much more enjoyable. Spend a few extra bucks and get some extra pads and a pad conditioner to extend the life of the pads. I like the trigger-less feature and easy start up. I did notice i bumped the speed control on accident a few times (two buttons for faster and slower) but no big deal, its a super minor gripe, still an amazing polisher

This polisher is amazing. I did some research before settling on this. Other polisher I considered were: Cyclo, PC and Rupes. Decided to go with the Torq for price, smaller size and digital controls. I’m glad I went with the Torq. Works better than expected. On my dark grey 2014 Camry, it removed the light swirl marks with ease. On my 2007 Titan, year of oxidation and water spots disappeared quickly. On my wife’s 2005 white (single phase) Sentra, the heavily oxidized paint came back to a brilliant shine. Her paint was so oxidized it was almost like a matte finish, but now it is shiny and smooth. I can’t stop admiring how well this polisher works. Now that the paint is corrected, it will be much easier to maintain as bugs and bird droppings will just wipe off.

I was using the Port Cable and saw this on sale for $165 and bought the kit. Versus the PC:Likes: It keep the hex logic pads very cool…something the PC did not, they got very hot The front rubber handle is nice It has less vibration than the PC…but still has some butvery tolerableCons: The buttons used to change the speed can get hit easily to slow down the speed by accident. It happens to me 5-10 times per car (have only done 2 car with this.) You have to hit the speed button each time to make it go to max. You can’t just hold it down to move thru the speeds (probably a good thing but is something I wish it did).

Took a lot of swirls out- I like the polisher but cover is already splitting – the controls could be better designed to be near fingersUpdate – I have used this on 3 different cars and get better everytime I use this, the key is not to rush and to allow the polisher to do the work. It does shoot the compund out a little so make sure to always spread on the car first. Controls still get me but the split hasn’t gotten any worse

Good polisher, used a few times now with CG V line products and hex logic pads.Like the lighter weight of this polisher, especially for vertical surfaces like lower doors.If anything i feel slightly underdone with the cutting qualities of green/ yellow HL pad, V32, and this polisher.The good thing for me getting back into grooming cutting/polishing is that i feel very safe not to over cut or over correct paint surfaces with this combination of products.I recommend using hockey tape on the power cord which would rest on your shoulder, to stop it from slipping off during use.The vibration feels only slight, and i like the feel and balance of this polisher.

The polisher is built well and has a questional speed control that might not sit well with many users. I found the build quality to be sub par with very bad plastic mouldings and badly put together. Many misaligned parts (external).But its a great polisher and I wonder if the earlier iterations of the polisher with that red and black sticker were better.The Box I recieved was all torn up and the zip lock bag inside with the wrench and motor brushes were all torn up as well. Not sure if it was new, I returned it.Verdict? For a 700W motor this unit is heavy like more powerful polishers. If you are going to handle that weight then might as well get a more powerful polisher.

Absolutely love how balanced this unit is. No need to use the attachable handle even on my original 2006 CRV paint job. The supplied chemical guys materials were a great introduction to great product line. I haven’t detailed a car in 35 years and this new polisher/buffer DA tool and the modern chemicals made it super pleasant compared to the old Blue Coral wax days. My coworkers thought I had bought a newer car and were floored when I told them it was my 230,000 mile CRV. 3 of them are now Chemical Guy converts. If you are older and a little stiff jointed get the Torx buffer and use it a few hours at a time and get used to the weight. Turn it on and off while against the paint surface to avoid slinging. I got rid of all the angel hair scratches, oxidation etc and never once worried about paint burn through or edge stripping like the old rotary buffers.Truly a great product combination set!!

So I ordered this unit because a car that was ordered from Carvana had badly water etched windows and I needed it here fast to seal with it. I received the unit netting day and the unit itself was used previously and the cutting pad was used, washed, and put back in the package and was still damp. But needing to get this fix done I used the used cutting pad with the glass polis I purchased from another vendor and it worked flawlessly. I’m obviously not happy I ordered a new product and had to use a used product. Maybe chemical guys will reach out and make this right. We shall see.

I needed something that would be a slight step up from the cheap 8mm throw polishers. This was on sale so I jumped on it. The product is pretty good. I wasn’t sure I’d like the buttons for speed control, and I’m still not convinced truthfully. However, it gets the job done and I was happy with the results. I will say that I didn’t try out the compounds because I had some 3M sitting around that I’m used to working with, but that, combined with the orange pad worked well for a one step.Another minor gripe is that it doesn’t seem to spin super fast on full speed. I feel I could get the job done faster if it did. Maybe I’m wrong though and CGs just didn’t bother making it faster if they didn’t need to.Like I said though the results I got were great. It got rid of swirls and sanding marks easily.

Works great and is relatively lightweight with minimal vibration. I spent 4 plus hours polishing an old abused car with lots of ‘patina’. I was happy with the results using the different compounds that were included in the box. The car went from dingy ugly to high gleam polished with very little effort. I did use an iron remover first and clay bar before starting. The car is a 42 years old Benz and probably no love for the last 30 years. Now it looks as good as it can. I can’t wait to find another old car to use this tool on!My old car restoring tip: clay bar the windows, takes off imperceptible specs and improves clarity.

Works great, controls and the number display can be a bit annoying since all of MCG products use a different RPM instructions for their products while this has a 2 digit display. Otherwise a great product

I was worried about how much effort this would take, but it was idiot proof. My car was not in terrible shape, but it had swirl marks, and lots of scratches from a mishandled snow brush. The 32 took out the deeper scratches after two passes, and the 34 handled the rest with ease on a single pass. The 38 was the icing on the cake. The pads hold up well too and are easy to clean. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it was too easy to accidentally change speeds when operating it. More of a nuisance than anything, but still doesn’t change my mind about how awesome this is. The only negative side effect is that I now care about where I park the 10yr old family truckster again. Before and after photos. LOOK AT THE CLOUDS!!

Great combination. Used 3D HDPoxy for the finish. Used it on four cars. Sand color 98 Ford F150, a grey 2010 Honda Civic, a white storm 2015 Toyota Prius and the Kicker a black 2016 Ford Focus. Each one had its own issue. The secrete to great results is a good car wash, working in the shade in the morning before it gets too hot, one car at a time. It take between 2 hours to about four hours per car. Feel the paint after the wash with your hands. Look for imperfections. How much work is it going to take to make the surface smooth. If the paint has major scratches and swirls use the V36-38 with the orange pad. The newer cars need only s light buff but more passes. Start buffer on low the kick it to high gear when polishing. Go light on the 3D HDPoxy finish. Go to low speed then bring it up to one or two notches. Let the Torq do the work. Overlap, side to side then up and down. The buffer will also polish and finish plastic parts like new. Try it. Don’t forget a cold beer during your pad changes. Have fun.
